This is a beautiful place to hike, and it's right in Colonial Williamsburg. Tucked off Francis Street behind Bassett Hall, this hidden gem is not easy to find, but once you do, it's well worth a visit! The 1.4 mile trail (one way, not a loop) is easy to medium with heavily wooded winding dirt paths and some moderate inclines, small streams and quaint wooden bridges. I am not a seasoned hiker and found it quite doable with a little bit of a challenge in places. Do walk with care as there are lots of tree roots. The trail is very well marked and there are lots of signs identifying the abundant plants, birds and butterflies. Fall is a glorious time to visit. But any time of year is a treat and not to be missed. Note that parking is limited because the small lot is shared with guests of The Griffin Hotel. But there is a large public lot on Francis Street within easy walking distance to...

When looking at the map it is an out and back. The trail head is hidden but google maps will get you too it in historic williamsburg. It is a trail that will give a good workout, if you want to wear out the kids it is perfect. I don't reccomend a stroller because of the ups and downs on rainy days it can also get pretty muddy. I loved the openness of the forest and the fact that the have good signage as some parts of the trail are being restored so there are marked detours. They are easily followed and if confused just follow the trees with orange dots. I also enjoyed the learning signage with birds etc and the trees have nice black signage for identification and learning. I enjoyed seeing double crested cormorants on logs and in the woods found an animal bone. A hidden...

As others have mentioned, there are a lot of hills to go up and down - some a little steep if you anyone has any sort of mobility issues. But with that being said, it's really a lovely walk. The path is well-maintained and at one point, ran along and over a small stream. We were out and about on a, luckily, mild July day when the humidity wasn't too bad and there was a nice breeze felt in places. We will definitely return here again in the future. I would love to come to see it...

This is a moderate level trail. While we'll blazed and defined, there are lots of ups and downs. The trees shade the trail for most of the trek and the wooded area is beautiful and serene. Wear good hiking shoes, and be prepared for the short hike. Parking is in the parking lot for the Griffin hotel Gold Wing. Hotel staff said you are fine to park and use the trail so long as you are not obstructing the driving areas. Parking in marked spaces near the trail head is acceptable.
