Note: this is a review of Raleigh tavern, which is not currently a restaurant. The tour guide we had for the tavern had an agenda and it was obvious. Only politically fueled tirade we saw the whole time at CW. He basically only wanted to talk about enslaved people and blame white people for everything wrong in the world. He didn't acknowledge that there were white indentured servants when directly asked, he also didn't acknowledge that black Africans sold other blacks into slavery and held slaves (of all races) themselves. Everyone agrees that slavery was wrong (which was worldwide at the time and used by all races), but we weren't at the tavern for a lecture on white guilt. When he did actually talk about the tavern, he just wanted to convince everyone that it's main purpose was as a theater instead of a gathering house with food and drink. Obviously, entertaining performances would have occured there on special occasions but day to day it would have been a social club. He droned on and on and spoke in roundabout manner instead of giving facts clearly and directly and was not courteous to questions. We saw four rooms in 40 minutes and didn't see any rooms upstairs - which we were not told would be the case when we began the tour.
