We decided to stay at the EconoLodge in Cherokee because it was a budget-friendly hotel that could actually accommodate our large family in one room.
The hotel was very easy to find and the young lady working the front desk was very pleasant. We offered us a room on either the first or second floor (we choose the first floor because this motel does not have elevators.) She also told us that her room was in a far back corner of the motel that the Wi-Fi signal may be spotty (it, along with cell phone signal, was actually non-existent) said to feel free to come to the lobby to use Internet whenever we wished. She also mentioned that the motel did not have a swimming pool but mentioned that there was a a public park with a creek suitable for swimming and waiting across the street.
Before making our reservation, I had read previous reviews that had mentioned noise problems. We did not experience any noise problems during our stay. Actually, our room was extremely quiet. We did not hear any noise from any adjoining room, the parking lot, or the street that runs parallel to the motel.
The breakfast buffet was good although limited to primarily bagels and cold pastries. Instant grits and oatmeal were available as was plenty of hot coffee, orange juice, and milk. The staff kept everything very well stocked and kept the dining area very clean.
Speaking of cleanliness, this is something that the EconoLodge Cherokee obviously takes great pride in. Our first impression driving into the parking lot was how clean the motel appeared. The lobby was equally as clean. Our room was squeaky clean also. We've stayed in much more expensive rooms that were far less clean than the EconoLodge Cherokee.
If we ever find ourselves back in Cherokee, NC we would definitely consider staying at the Econolodge Cherokee…non-existent...

Read moreI had booked a 2 night stay with Econo Lodge in Cherokee, NC for my birthday. There was a winter storm I didn't know about until the day before and I figured we would still try to go. I had drove 2 hours out of the 2 and a half hour drive it was going to take to get there when I reached the mountains and the roads were closed due to heavy snow and ice. By this time most of the roads were pretty bad and I didn't feel like it was safe driving anymore. I reached out to Econo Lodge immediately and told them I was not going to make it due to the fact of the winter storm. Jackie, one of the employees there, told me it should be fine to refund it since it's due to weather and that she would talk to the owner. That was on a friday. I called back sunday to see what the owner had said and she said she was going to go ahead and process the refund. I thanked her profusely and waited 7 business days for a refund. I never got that money back so i called on the 7th business day to see what was up about my refund. She proceeded to say that she never said any of those things and that I had to go through booking.com to request a refund (which would have been nice if she mentioned that to begin with). so i did. Whoever i talked to at Econolodg via booking.com said they werent giving me any money back and didn't even try to give me another booking date. The staff was rude every time i called. The staff was also misleading in saying they were going to refund me when they in fact werent going to. They suggested i keep driving and put my family in danger. They need to rethink how they run their business. Now im out of over $200 for something i didnt even...
