I stayed in this nice budget hotel and really liked it. I had room 101 all the way in the back, and there was no street noise at all. They have roll down shutters that block out most of the light so you can sleep late. Plenty of hot water, and the room also had a mini-fridge. Cable TV with about 45 channels. Air conditioning and heat controlled in the room. No elevator, and only 2 rooms are on the ground floor. Free continental breakfast served until 10:30 a.m. with fresh squeezed orange juice. Really nice staff. The only minus is that there is one good restaurant about 2 blocks away, but most of the other restaurants are about 6 blocks away. It's in more of a residential area where few tourists are, which I prefer. Checkout time is an early 10 a.m. Their web site lists the price (April 2006) as 900 Uruguay pesos (about US$36). At the tourist office in Colonia, they told me it was $25, but when I got to the hotel and asked, it was only $20. This was mid-week in the off-season. Warmly recommended for any budget traveler, and most people would certainly find this hotel clean and acceptable.||More info:||web site reference: http://www.guiacolonia.com.uy/solcolonia/solcolonia.htm||Hotel Sol Colonia|Avenida Artigas 377|Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay|Phone/fax (052) 26206 and 27644|e-mail ...
