WONDERFUL family-like experience!!! My girlfriend and I stayed at Fan House for one month and we are grateful to Fan House family for the wonderful experience.
It is a new building with clean rooms. The apartment is ran by a family and they make you feel like a part of their big family.
Their manager and now our wonderful friend Dung was extremely helpful with finding all the essentials during the first couple of days like the nearby stores (with price tags on items so you know what you pay), SIM card place to stay online, coffee shops and restaurants.
Fan House staff has provided us with everything we needed for the long stay - a rice cooker, a kettle, a fridge, bought a new microwave for us, pans, pots - everything. There is a washing machine in the unit as well, and a dryer on the rooftop, where you also have a gorgeous sea view. Large 20 liter water jugs are sold in the apartment for cheaper than you would get it on the street. This was extremely helpful because the two of us go through more than 20 liters of water a week (cooking at home) and you don’t wanna be carrying one of those around..
The area is very calm and safe because there is a school nearby. 5 minutes to the beach with wonderful white sands. 5 minutes to shops and restaurants and bars and coffee places, the apartment is in a good location if you don’t have a scooter bike.
When you do feel more comfortable* you can rent a bike from Dung right there on the spot, it is very affordable. The gas aka petrol station is across the street.
*If you drive cars but don’t feel comfortable on a bike, then take a couple of days to practice on local streets, Dung will show you the basics and provide you with a bike to practice… I drive cars, but a bike didn’t sit well with me. Well I had to learn, because although Grab is not too expensive, it definitely adds up. On a bike you are mobile and can get to larger, cheaper stores and gyms and entertainment places.
All-in-all, our friend Dung, his wise brother mr (we call him uncle) Phan and his handy cousin who can literally do anything with his hands, and the mom - all are wonderful people that you might want to sit downstairs with and chit chat about the culture and different experiences, and have a few beers with ice (my new favorite thing now!). They are great, and you can tell, they really care.
It is truly sad for us to leave, but we have to carry on with our travel. Thanks to Facebook and messengers though, I know we will stay in touch!
This was our first long stay in Da Nang and together with Dung we worked on a small Da Nang guide, that he can give you when you arrive. It will have some of the essential things and places that you have to know about (Sim cards, good stores, coffee places, etc). These are the things we wish we knew earlier and we wanted to leave something worthy after we leave :) However, Da Nang is not a complicated city to be in for people who don’t know a word of Vietnamese (we certainly don’t), many people here speak enough English to get by and they have wonderful service in every place you visit.
Thank you Fan House for such a great and touching introduction to you culture and your city, we will come again!

Read moreThe property is right next to a school that blasts out music most days and Bun Bo sellers drive down the street at 5.30am. Do not rent here if you want to sleep. We also had to regularly listen to our neighbours having sex or coming in at 2am as their bedroom was directly adjacent to ours, sometimes amusing but most times annoying as we wanted to sleep. Our sofa was dipping and uncomfortable to use. The two rooms available when we checked in both had poor/no natural light in the living room. We originally took the enclosed bedroom but after realising that neighbours sound echoed up the fake window we switched to the glass bedroom, which then had the street noise issues.
However if you're half deaf and sleep like a log or regularly half-drunk (or more) then this place may be okay. Beds are comfortable. Price is okay. Some rooms have big windows. Staff are laid back but responsive-ish and do generally get things done. Washing machine and kitchen area are modern and work.
Note that our bond was not given back on checkout. Told we had to wait 3-5 days which is unusual and inconvenient if you are leaving Vietnam, especially when we gave it in cash but was returned by bank transfer. No offer to go and get the cash when I explained it was an issue.
Low rating from me due to...
Read moreArrived to a room that didn’t lock and the appliances didn’t work (we purposefully booked an apartment so we could save money and cook things that we learnt on a recent local course). Swiftly moved to another room. Things were on the up. However, 30 mins later we notice the corridors across the building filling with smoke. Our eyes were sore and it was cough inducing. The kind receptionist showed us the source of the smoke at our request (an incense box being wafted by a man on the 2nd floor). However, since we were 6 floors up- and heard no smoke alarm despite the building being full of smoke - we were seriously concerned and it made us doubt that the building had any kind of fire safety precautions. We decided and to leave and offered to pay for one night rather than the planned four which the receptionist accepted without...
