Overrated, overpriced, unrealistic reviews The Pics on the net are unrealistic, standard of the hotel does not at all match the description given on various booking Sites. Rooms are small, and rooms with Riverview are right at the 4 lane street with traffic 24/7. Beds are uncomfortable, hard as a a stone. The cleanest of the room are on a very low level or openly spoke dirty, real dirty. Also lights in the bathroom and on one side of the bed were not working. Floor finishing are broken on various locations in the room. Bathroom had broken tiles. Made the mistake to go through the room with socks on and set in the bed with the socks. A nightmare what you will find afterwards in your bed sheets. In addition we had bugs all over the bed and the room. Don't know what these critters are at least we were not bit during the night. We asked for a room clean up and change of bedsheets. Which was done but didn't had any benefit in respect to cleanest of the sheets or the room. We are not at all picky regarding standards or even have in mind to judge the Vietnamese hotel by western level!
Had to pay the room in advance otherwise the staff would have kept our passports! Highly questionable behavior, as you normally would not give your passport out of Hand in Vietnam or any foreign country, remember your Visa is in the passport! In Vietnam you are requested by law to have your Visa on you when you are on the move.
We left the hotel after one night. Had a little discussion with the staff about the refund as the didn't wanted to make a refund on the credit card. In the end the paid the refund in cash back to us. To be fair I must mentioned that they gave us a discount for the night of 25%. Thanks for that! But keep in mind the trouble and inconveniences we had. Sleeping a night with little critters and make an hour of research to find a new hotel.
As I assume that most of the high rated reviews are not honest reviews (including the reviews on other platforms in the web)....you probably can imagine what I mean! They are just fake reviews.
Overall the hotel is overpriced as you will find brand-new hotel near the coast line for less money. Or if you want to stay near the city...

Our experience at Happy Day Hotel was extremely disappointing. Upon checking in, we discovered that the bathroom was moldy and dirty. We immediately brought this to the staff’s attention, but instead of properly cleaning it, they simply tidied up—ignoring the very real health hazard this posed, especially for guests with respiratory and underlying health issues.
To compensate for this, they offered us a free ride upon leaving. However, when we arrived at our destination, we discovered that they hadn’t actually paid the Grab driver, and we had to cover the fare ourselves.
To make matters worse, after my husband left an honest review about our experience, the hotel quickly called us, offering to reimburse us—but only if we removed the review. This felt incredibly unethical and manipulative.
If cleanliness, honesty, and ethical business practices matter to you, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere.
Further, instead of addressing the concerns I raised in my review above, it is disappointing to see an attempt to discredit my experience.
Given that your establishment required and recorded my passport information during check-in, it’s concerning that you are now claiming to have no record of my stay. Misplacing or failing to acknowledge legal documents like passports raises serious questions about your record-keeping and data security practices.
I stand by my review, and I encourage this business to focus on resolving customer concerns rather than dismissing them. However, denying my experience does not change the fact that...

Rooms weren't clean, and most of the staff (sans the security guard and Tâm) had a really bad attitude. We were asked to pay during check-in, which is fine. However, the receptionist rolled her eyes at me when I asked to see our rooms before paying. I don't think that's an unreasonable request, considering the booking page asked if we wanted smoking or non-smoking rooms. People in my group have asthma and cannot be near cigarette smoke for long periods of time. We checked in on 23/02 at 2pm.
The stairwells are used as storage for old mattresses, which doesn't seem safe. There was also a worker napping on the 2nd floor when I went down, due to lots of elevator traffic.
Checkout is at noon, but the room keys are deactivated at 11:30. The staff didn't tell us beforehand and seemed annoyed that they had to let us up at 11:40 to get our luggage. We still checked out before noon. After all that, another guest checked out past noon, and the staff treated him with all smiles.
The security guard is awesome. He was super friendly, made sure guests were safe around traffic, carried bags for guests, and more. The reception staff was just standing around, except Tâm, who was great! He could work at a 5-star hotel with his attitude and attention to detail.
If we come back to Da Nang, we will not be staying at Happy Day. This hotel could be SO MUCH better with a little renovation and nicer staff.
Final note: the room decorations on the shelf were glued down LOL 😆😂🤣🙃 (Motel 6 doesn't...
