Chau Giang Hostel — Hotel in Da Lat City

Saw this place on agoda as was very reasonably priced however when we arrived I was very shocked as looks nothing like the photos. We got checked in, hotel receptionist couldn’t speak much english but they were super friendly, always saying hello to us when we walked in and even gave us some free tea. When we got to the room it looked quite dirty. The bathroom was very mediocre as well. The bed itself was quite comfy however the room doesn’t get much daylight into it as the small window almost blacked out. I also didn’t realise the room has no aircon just a small fan however this didn’t cause us much issue as it faced directly on the bed. There is also no lift and the stairways is quite narrow and tight. Overall the hotel has a brilliant location and super friendly staff however it wasn’t very clean and half the time i didn’t want to walk barefoot in my own room because...

When we called & asked about the conditions of the hostel (not hotel as advertised), we were told that everything was great. Upon arrival, we were quite surprised how old it is. The facility is quite inadequate. Uneven floor. Little ants crawled on the bed. Even after the sheets were changed, new ones appeared. Impossible to stay in this room in any conditions. We refused to stay, but the owners/nanager refused to return the deposit. Make sure to do not give them any deposit as they will keep it and will not return it. This is a very bad practice. Das kleinste Zimmer gleicht eher einer Abstellkammer. Das Fenster ist sehr klein, eher ein Lichtschacht und kaputt (lässt sich nicht schließen). Dadurch ist es teils sehr kalt im Zimmer und von Außen und von der Lobby zieht ständig Zigarettenrauch oder beißender Essensgeruch hinein, dem man auch im Treppenhaus nicht entkommen kann. Das Waschbecken im Bad hängt nur mehr an einer rostigen Schraube, ist bereits stark nach vorn geneigt und wirkt als könnte es jeden Moment abbrechen. Der einzige Pluspunkt: die Dusche ist warm (aber wenig Wasserdruck), das Bett sauber und man bekommt Tee, wenn man in der Lobby wartet.
