As I write this I am sitting in a depressing hotel room in Nha Trang missing Mr. Happy and his homestay!
I knew this place was going a gem when I arrived. I was sick and in a really bad state. Mr. Happy and his team showed me so much compassion even offering to take me to the hospital and translate - actually insisting! Each day they asked me how I was feeling and went out of their way to help with our every need.
The room was clean, quaint and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Mr. Happy is actually an amazing cook and offers cooking classes and dinner each night for $6 - such a steal for what you get! Also included is a free breakfast which is delicious. Free tea, free beer during happy hour, free smoothie if you don't want beer.. the list goes on. Mr. Happy has an enormous heart and it shines through in everything he does and offers his guests. You won't feel impersonal here; you're amoung friends and you'll be treated as such every second of your stay. I talked to Mr. Happy as you would an old friend, sharing childhood stories and laughs over dinner.
He has endless recommendations for fun things to do in the area, and offers free walking tours and more. In addition, Da Lat itself is just lovely. Nothing is an inconvenience for Mr. Happy and his staff!
Oh, and the WiFi was really good! And the location is just slightly outside town but it's not a bother at all!
I really can't say enough good things about this place! It felt so nice after four months to feel at home somewhere at least for a few days! Thank you so much Mr. Happy! I'm so glad we got...
Read moreI usually never review any place I visit. But here I had to testify about Mr Happy. I think that every vietnamese should be proud to count Mr Happy as a sibling. He is an ambassador of kindeness, generosity, hard work and has a remarquable positive mindset. Why am I telling that ? I had a motorbike accident so I had to stay a little longer in Dalat. And Mr Happy helped me for many different things. Finding a nice room when I was hurt (he was full that night). He gave me some painkillers, kept my broken bike at his place before I could re-sell it (he negociated a good price for me). He made me food late at night and wanted to get me to the hospital to be sure everything was fine for me, etc, etc.
So, not mentionning his smile, I need to tell that I've rarely met someone as kind and generous as him during my trips (I wanted to thank him with a little money but he refused).
So if you like to meat great people that will help you discover the beautifull city of Dalat, don't hesitate to stay at Mr Happy's place. Some rooms have a nice vue and the neighborhood is quiet by the way.
Thank you Mr Happy for everything you've...
Read moreI tried to write a review on hostel world but my trip had been cancelled. Unfortunately we had a bad experience here. In our room (especially my friend's bed) there was a bed bug infestation. We tried to tell Mr. Happy about it as we woke up with many bites (my friend currently still has so many) and we were told it was the washing powder or another bug. It was definitely nothing to do with the washing powder as the bedsheets did not smell or feel clean. Thankfully we were moved into a private room but it didn't feel great that nobody would believe us. I have unfortunately experienced them in other hostels whilst travelling previously and know what to check for. I checked the mattresses at Mr. Happy and there was a big patch of black marks on my friend's bed which is a sign of infestation. Really sorry to make this review but it was very unpleasant and it left a bad taste in my mouth knowing that my stay was cancelled on hostel world so I couldn't comment on it. This could be such a wonderful hostel if this...
