J'adore Apartment — Hotel in Hà Nội

If I could give 0 stars I would. Like another review already stated, this host is scamming guests.

I do not write negative reviews normally, but they just scammed me for roughly 64 Euros and ruined a big part of my time in Hanoi, so I hope that this review might save others from experiencing this.

First of all, when I arrived I did not get the room I booked. Instead, I got "upgraded" to another room, which literally faced a building brick wall and had no natural light. I specifically booked a room that had the description of 'garden view' and all pictures showed natural light. So this was obviously NO upgrade, but a downgrade. I immidiately talked to the host about that and they just said "Oh thats Agodas fault, you can only put down 'garden view', we cant change that" - first lie they told me. Other properties are quite capable of addressing this "issue" with no problem. They offered me a room change the next day to a room with light, but still not the room I originally booked. And first they wanted more money for that (scam). I discussed and they settled to not charge extra, but were visibly annoyed with me. I wanted to leave right there but the owner persuaded me to stay and was quite insistent with that. He promised me a full refund if I was not satisfied on the next day, saying he would definitely(!) refund me the full amount. I really regret not just leaving directly and contacting Agoda on the spot. I did change room the next day, and it did have light, but as I am seeing it, only half the rooms they offer have light even though all of them are advertised as having light, consider that when booking.

Second of all, both rooms I was in were not cleaned properly: dust, leftover food spatter on the cutlery and dishes, hairs on the couch and bed, omnious spatter points on the toilette, and so on. The place was just not properly cleaned, only light surface level. I looked over that for the first room, because I knew I would change the next day and was hoping this was a one time mistake, but no. The second room was the same, actually worse. On top of the other things, I also found a half eaten ramen package and half smoked cigarettes as well as a dusty pad in the room. I then asked for the room to be properly cleaned. When I returned, all the dirt and things/trash from previous guests were still there, just the trash can itself was emptied. Unfortunately, it was already evening when I returned. I messaged the owner, she ignored me for some time to then knock at my door at 10pm, discussing and wanting to come inside. I declined because this situation made me feel really uncomfortable and asked about the promised refund if I was to check out tomorrow morning. She assured me again, that they would refund me if I checked out early! Me not having felt comfortable there for 1 minute, decided I am going to leave the next day - expecting a refund for my remaining 4 nights.

While all of this happened, they were not really apologetic, rather they seemed annoyed with me. I stayed respectful and rational. They were very avoidant, but at the same time promising me a partial refund and acting "polite". I think they did that just to get rid of me, but keep my money.

When I left the next day and contacted Agoda about the refund, they said that it is not possible because the host is not cooperating. So then, a back and forth with Agoda started, of me explaining the situation, sending pictures and screenshots of messages with the host. At the same time, the host did the same thing, BUT they send staged pictures and told Agoda lies about me being "upgraded", having a different room, than the one I was actually in and just referring that for cancellation/refund it would be too late and I should know that. They also said they cleaned my room multiple times. Agoda than referred to the cancellation policy and said they only can refund if the host cooperates, which they dont want to. Save your money, time and peace and DONT GO here. They...

🚨 TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AT J’ADORE APARTMENT (4 NGO 9, LIEU GIAI STREET, HANOI).

I booked 5 nights here. The moment I checked in at 2 a.m., the room was filled with a disgusting damp and moldy smell. Even after using air freshener, the odor stuck to my belongings. I immediately reported this to the host but received absolutely no response. The next morning, when I followed up, she only gave vague excuses with zero intention to solve the issue.

When we met in person, the host showed open hostility. Instead of fixing the problem, she kept blaming me as the guest. Worst of all, she threw insulting lines at me such as:

“IF YOU FEEL SO UNCOMFORTABLE, THEN WHY BOTHER STAYING ANOTHER NIGHT OR TWO? WHY DON’T YOU JUST MOVE OUT RIGHT AWAY?”

“THAT MOTORBIKE IS YOURS, LOCK IT YOURSELF, I WON’T TAKE CARE OF IT.”

This was basically kicking me out and made me feel completely unsafe. Her mocking, arrogant, and disrespectful behavior was unbearable.

Because of this, I left immediately, accepting the loss of all 4 remaining nights (since Agoda does not refund). This is money I lost for an extremely bitter lesson right in the middle of Hanoi.

👉 My warning: Do NOT be fooled by pretty pictures. Think very carefully before booking here. The host’s attitude is what truly matters — and here it was absolutely...

The room is nice, but the whole place is filled with a damp smell. We noticed it the moment we arrived, we bought two air freshener and it helped a little bit. Overall the level of tidiness is not up to standards. The kitchen cabinets were stained by previous use and the bathroom is moldy. It's really a pity because the room are really nice, if kept well this place would deserve 5 stars. It even has a Japanese style toilet seat, but I didn't use the full functionalities because I was worried that it has never been cleaned well. The picture with the 4 washing machines is fake, or at least the owner didn't bother telling us where they were. We had to use one washing machine, shared with the staff of the place (almost never available except that at night) that was placed on the rooftop without any cover from rain. I would not recommend...
