THE WORST||My second night in Hanoi, the temperature dropped to 7 degrees (44.5 degrees fahrenheit) and stayed there all week. The building doesn’t have any heating. The window units are for cooling/fan only. I asked for a space heater (which cost $35 USD AT Nguyen Kim 5 blocks away) and was refused. They gave me an extra blanket! How the f*ck is an extra blanket supposed to help me take a shower in a 7 degree room?||The young guys who run in it are all chainsmokers who smoke inside constantly. The building is tiny and if they weren’t sleeping or eating dinner, my room was full of cigarette and vape smoke. Not a whiff either, enough to give me a sore throat and make my clothes smell.||There’s no chair or stool in the room, so I had to sit on a decorative pillow on the floor and prop my laptop up on my bed to work remotely, not comfortable for a 9-12 hour workday starting at 5:30AM.||Lastly, it backs onto a little plaza where the neighbors got on a mic and aired their grievances extremely loudly for 2.5 hours straight on Sunday morning, not ideal for conference calls.||I was supposed to stay for one week and paid in advance, but only lasted 3 days. As soon as I had a hole in my work schedule I booked another hotel and left, returning 2 days later for my stuff. I checked out a day early and was offered zero refund, of course. I had my laundry done and they didn’t ask me to pay for that because they could guess I’m pissed. LOLZ, two loads of laundry doesn’t make up for the $85 I had to spend on another hotel while I was supposed to be staying here.||I’ve stayed in 20+ hotels in Hanoi over the years, from the Metropole to the High Five Hostel, not to mention Airbnbs, serviced apartments, and staying with friends. This place has so much potential with this perfect location, but it was the...
Read moreDO NOT CONE TO THIS HOTEL when we arrived we were told our room is being renovated and that they locked it on the website and don’t know how we managed to book it, when we asked for a refund he refused to give us the money and told us we can only check in at 17pm When we came at 17 the room didn’t look nearly as close to what we’d expected, the bathroom was dirty and the room was fool of ants and mosquitoes The WiFi connection was very weak and barely worked There was a bad smell of cigarettes in the room and the lobby The stuff was rude The location is very far from the main area and cannot get there by foot because of the heat
In the middle of the night we went to the hospital and came back early in the morning and asked if they can consider us and let us check out later (also because of the late check in that we found out about just when we arrived) and we were told that he has someone who booked the room already so we...
Read moreAmazing stay at this place. It is centrally located and everything is near by. Rooms are clean and big. If you are need a reason to stay at this place it should be because of the management team. I wish I could give with hotel 10 stars because the team working here is simply amazing. Harry (Hiept) and Alan are amazing people. They made my first solo trip to Vietnam so memorable and so much fun. These two helped me even after I checked out and moved onto different cities. I would text Harry regularly to ask what and where I should go next and he would respond right away. Opera house suites is really lucky to have these two working there. I checked out and went to Sapa and when I got back it felt like I was back at home and not at a hotel. They really made me feel like I was at home. These two are young but very knowledgeable. Harry and Alan went above and beyond what their job calls for and I’m happy to call them my life...
