My partner and I were looking for a classier place to eat near the Opera House and thought this place looked decent. We were there later in the evening. As soon as I finished my meal I saw a fat 8" rat scurry from the direction of the kitchen under the table behind us. I froze. I swear a woman who appeared to work there had also seen the rat and not cared. Just as I was beginning to think I'd imagined the whole thing. I saw another, smaller rat, this one about 5-6" on the upper level headed toward the kitchen area. My partner hadn't finished eating yet, but I'd about had it. Less than five minutes later he looked surprised at something over my shoulder and immediately requested the check. I asked later and he said he'd seen a rat, same size as the second one, crawling down the pillar toward the baked good case. WE'd been in Hanoi for over a month and seen maybe five rats total, three of which were in this restaurant! Needless to say, we gave the whole block a wide berth from then on and would highly recommend...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant thinking it looked clean and nice. Food tasted fine but about an hour later myself and my friend started to feel super sick, I thought it was because she must have eaten something off but she had pumpkin soup and I had a salad. All night long she has been projectile vomiting and she hadn’t eaten anything else that day which could have caused it. I wake up this morning myself to the worst stomach cramps thinking to my self ffs! I too have been projectile vomiting all morning and I haven’t eaten anything else since we dined here. They also allow people to smoke inside even though they have signs saying no smoking so we thought great they will tell them to stop but they didn’t, the room gets filled with cigarette smoke you can hardly breath. I will say the service by the young man who served us was great but doesn’t take away from the fact we got food poisoning here! Don’t go unless you want to spend an entire day in bed as we haven’t left our beds since...
Read moreFOOD I ordered the spicy shrimp with cream sauce and it was very tasty. They don't skimp on the shrimp. It was a nice break from the more traditional Vietnamese cuisine you'll find around Hanoi. Also had their coffee with milk, which was nice.
AMBIANCE As you come in from the street into their main dining area, there's a huge shift in the atmosphere. The restaurant seems very clean and (not too) dimly lit to give it a nice, classy feel. The artwork on the wall is also pretty interesting.
Note: the others in my group ordered their "grilled" foods which didn't seem all too grilled and were a bit overcooked. If it weren't for that, based on my meal and experience alone, I would give this...
