Great location Near the end of the main strip, very helpful English speaking staff. Rooms are very clean and have excellent AC Units! Bathrooms are wet rooms so there is no shower but this is common in Asia. The staff will help you rent motorbike from their friend and many other things if wanted. Motorbike can be rented all day and no return time like many other companies on the island. Breakfast has many made to order options and is good. All hallways lead out to a oceanfront balcony so no need to have the oceanfront room cause the balcony is shared. I have been here during the 60th anniversary of Cat Ba’s Liberation from the French and it was a massive party and celebration. Very glad I had earplugs for the oceanfront 6th floor room. I recommend staying non oceanfront or bring earplugs like me and you will be fine! The staff will also exchange money for you as o have found most places do not accept US Dollars our on Cat Ba. We had booked one night with Phoenix star with the intention of extending it for few more nights. Unfortunately we decided not to extend it after the first night.

We had their listing to be a misrepresentation as the pictures make it look like that rooms have private balconies. Which is not the case. In fact, no room has a private balcony.

They also charge extra for side sea view room which is their way of saying that if you lean hard enough through one of the side windows, you might be able to see a sliver of sea view. Not cool.

The washroom door was broken as well. In their defence, they did change our room (to a smaller room) to accomodate us for the night.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the staff (Julie in particular) were super friendly, and super helpful. Spoke fluent English and were able to help with anything including organising various trips. The room was very nice, clean, and neighboured a shared balcony with fantastic views of the bay. Breakfast was good, not the best we’ve had but overall it was fine. Complimentary tea and coffee served all day in the lobby was a nice touch.
