I recently stayed at Huazhu Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, and while there were some positives, my overall experience was disappointing.
What I didn’t like: The restaurant manager frequently complained about his staff in front of guests, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. Cash-Only Policy! No option to charge drinks, food, or laundry to the room. Everything must be paid in cash immediately, which is inconvenient. Noisy Rooms! The hotel is under renovation, with drilling noises from early morning until late at night. Additionally, outside construction goes on 24/7, and even water flushing from upper floors is so loud it feels like it will pour down on you. The restaurant is overpriced with a poor selection and is uncomfortably windy. I do not recommend it. Instead, the restaurant across the street (MOC) is much better and more affordable. The alley leading to the hotel is cluttered with construction materials, and you need to watch out for dog mess on the way in.
What I liked: Wi-Fi was decent. The Breakfast buffet was fine, but repetitive if staying for a week or more. The small pool was nice, but with only four loungers that are so uncomfortable you can feel the metal bars through them. Good location with plenty of great restaurants nearby and not far from the busy center. Helpful staff, though their English proficiency is very poor or...
Read moreI have been here a week ago and I really have to write this review, because I was so much disappointed.
Unacceptable Hotel Conditions and Misrepresentation:
I had an extremely disappointing experience with this hotel booked through Booking.com. The conditions were entirely misrepresented, and I could not stay there due to several significant issues: Construction Works: The hotel was undergoing extensive construction. Both entrances were blocked, and constant noise from jackhammers echoed throughout the building. Misleading Room Conditions: The room provided did not match the photos on Booking.com. It had an unpleasant odor and was not suitable for a comfortable stay. Facilities in Poor Condition: The advertised gym was in a temporary, unfinished space under a staircase with no air conditioning—unacceptable in a city with 30°C temperatures like Ho Chi Minh City.
The overall experience was far from what was promised. I had no choice but to leave immediately. I have requested a full refund and hope Booking.com will address this matter. I urge others to be cautious when booking...
Read moreWe were moved to this hotel as the original hotel we booked (closer to Ben Thanh market) had a pipe burst. The good: the staff are friendly and very helpful with our bags etc. getting up the front steps etc. Also, the sky bar in the roof had a free cocktail each and has b1g1 happy hour. The room was big in comparison to others we stayed in, in HCMC. The breakfast had a poor selection and it took a long time for the coffee/tea cups to replenish so they should purchase more coffee mugs for breakfast time as it was not busy. Also, the lunch was very expensive! My partner had one chicken stir-fry and it was over 330,000 dong. Great view from the roof. On level 10 we were looking forward to a quieter sleep, but our neighbours were very loud moving furniture and having a fight at 1 am (not the hotel's fault), but still annoying. We also appreciated being moved from the first room on level 8 that had a smoky smell to the other room on level 10 without any delay....
