Lala Home — Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City

In short: don't stay here. This place runs a scam, no other way to put it. The attitude of the receptionist made this one of the worst experiences in any travel we've done - possibly only rivaled by the van rides in Laos.

We booked through Agoda. When we arrived they said the room we booked had a problem and that we were "upgraded" to the "family room", which was built like a dorm room, and that the double room we ordered would become available the next day. After consulting with Agoda, who encouraged us to take the deal while they consider a refund, we decided to be amicable and try the deal, even though the receptionist already gave us a sour face for not accepting her gracious deal roght away. We paid as agreed and went up to the room to discover the A/C wasn't actually cooling. After a 15 minute wait that our receptionist advised, we went down and asked that we cancel the booking, as everything seemed wrong. She started having a fit and yelling at us, saying it's not okay to cancel after we check in. To try not to cause a scene, we agreed to stay and pay for that one night. That night was awful, as the sheets were synthetic and it was hot. The next morning was also somewhat of a fiasco as we were forced to eat the included breakfast with the lights off, as this was "the policy". Go figure. We ran away that morning - good riddens. I should credit Agoda's wonderful service - they handled our case gracefully, and hopefully they'll take action against...

Stayed in the double room (101). It was directly above the reception desk and the window did nothing to block the sound coming in. The AC worked fine. I didn't realize that the private bathroom was separate from the room. You're given a separate key for the bathroom. The bed was about the best I had in Vietnam which honestly isn't saying much. There really is no common area outside of a space in front of the reception desk. This made for more noise entering the room. At 7am you can hear them getting breakfast ready. Also there is a dog next door that barks every morning when the owner opens here front door (not the hostels fault). Overall for the price it wasn't a...

Excellent!

An excellent place for backpackers who have a small budget. For 5$, we had a bed in mix dormitory plus the breakfast which is included. The bathrooms are large, clean and the equipment well functioning. Each bed is equipped with a power outlet, a light and a fan. The air conditioning is switched on from 6pm to 6am by the staff. The whole place is very clean and cleaning of the commons and the dormitory is made every day. The only "drawback" is that they missed to make my laundry on time due to an electricity interruption according to what they said. I guess this is exceptional...
