I've reserved 4 rooms at this hotel on a last minute spontaneous trip with my family from Tay Ninh (we couldn't find any other accommodations due to it being a very last minute trip). Honestly, This location is wonderful, the hotel has amazing potential. But let me tell you:
The listing stated "complimentary shuttle service," we requested shuttle at 8AM for pick up at 2:30PM and was denied due to not enough time to arrange a 16 seater van. Which can be understandable.
The route to this hotel is through a dark "alley" street. So do not expect a grand extrance.
We checked into our rooms and of the 4 rooms 2 rooms had to be switched to a different room due to: broken shower door. And another with a dripping AC unit and creaking shower door.
Of the two room changes, one of the new room had a horrible odor, it was described as rotten flesh, the odor came out of the restroom.
Not to mention a third room had poor AC. I've requested maintenance twice and was not fixed. So my two sons and I stayed in this third room without good AC. They did not have any other rooms to switch us to.
The dining room for the breakfast buffet is a living nightmare. Breakfast and any other table for food storage had black mildew stains all over. Not a big selection of food offered, which is fine, BUT, when looking at the food on it was nothing near appetizing. So my sons and I have been eating scrambled eggs and bread each morning. The drink dispensers as well as some of the food warmers look like they've been there for decades.
Although we were there in June, and supposedly the beach isn't good for swimming, BUT you can tell if a place has kept up with their private beach area or not. There were trash everywhere on the sand.
DESPITE ALL THESE FLAWS, I THOUGHT TO MYSELF, "OKAY YOU GET WHAT YOU'VE PAID FOR." BUT THEY'VE BROKEN THE LAST STRAW WHEN THEY;
STOPPED US on our way out to explore and showed us a nicely folded towel and said that there is a stain on the towel and that they can't remove the stain, so we will be charged for it. I took a look at the towel and was furious. The stain was hardly seen. I mean it was BARELY there!!! (After conversing with the staff, they ended not charging us for the towel). We met another family who stayed at the same resort shared that they've experienced the exact same thing.
This incident made my family of 9 so afraid of using anything in the room, we're even afraid of entering our rooms. Imagine paying for a vacation that feels like walking on eggshells.
If you decide to stay here, please take before photos of every little spots and stains or any imperfections...
Read moreOf all the places I've stayed in Vietnam over the years this one probably comes out top. From the moment we stepped off the plane the staff were helpful, efficient and welcoming. We were greeted with smiles and organisation at every step of the way, and the staff not only helped us but anticipated our needs before we even asked. They even helped out with some first aid when I hurt myself. The amenities are wonderful for what you pay - the rooms are simple but comfortable, well equipped and clean. We stayed right on the beach and the view from our room was spectacular.
The food was also delicious and well priced compared to the rest of the island. Many of our friends ended up eating and drinking here on numerous days. The bar and restaurant do close relatively early though, which is great for guests as it avoids noise late into the night. The breakfast is great too - simple Vietnamese style food.
The location is fantastic - super central and has the perfect beach for relaxing and swimming.
One small improvement they could make it to use less plastic waste. They put multiple straws in every drink and used too many plastic bottles.
While they do take credit cards and cash, if you're wanting to book a boat trip this will need to be paid for in cash.
Overall I would give them a 6/5 stars and would book here again in a heart beat. Thanks to Orange Resort for a...
Read moreIf you want to cherish your precious time in Phu Quoc, I do not recommend this place.
When I went to the restaurant for breakfast, there was someone smoking indoors. Since I had a baby with me, I asked the staff to have them stop, but their response was, "He’s my boss." The person in charge of Orange Resort was smoking and having a video call in a place where smoking is prohibited.
Moreover, the person in charge of making warm omelets was constantly pre-making about ten at a time, so guests had no choice but to take cold omelets. Seeing guests taking cold omelets at a resort made me feel sad about the poor service they were receiving despite being on a vacation.
Trying to lift my spirits, I ordered juice at the bar, but the three staff members there looked at me and laughed. It was incredibly unpleasant.
Until the day before, I had been staying at Cassia Cottage, which costs 1,620,700 VND more per night. I moved here to save money, but I deeply regretted it.
Neither the boss nor any of the staff smiled, and none of the guests seemed happy either. In contrast, at Cassia Cottage, both staff and guests were all smiles, and the atmosphere was full of positive energy.
If you’re considering staying at Orange Resort, I strongly recommend paying a bit more to stay at Cassia Cottage instead. Choosing the cheaper option here will only leave you...
