I booked 3 nights at the Hang En Hotel. The price was a bargain and I normally set my standards lower when this is the case, but I was so wrong. ||After the night bus leaving Hanoi late and breaking down on route, I got to Phong Nha 2 hours later than I had originally said. I had emailed the hotel on route to inform them and they replied not to worry. When I eventually was dropped off at 6:30am, the hotel is only a straight 2 min walk.||Once I got to the hotel, Mr Hai was waiting outside with open arms to welcome me. After a quick check in and an introduction to Mrs Hai, I was shown to my room. I was genuinely impressed. Massive room, super clean, double doors onto balcony which in turn looks onto the Phong Nha mountains, decent size en-suite that all looked pretty new. Good WiFi and air con. Shower was hot and good pressure. I’d say so for of my travel the best room and the best price.||Mr and Mrs Hai who run the hotel are the most lovely couple. They are willing to go that extra mile to make you happy. I booked my day trip to Hang Tein Cave trip and my bus to Hué was all booked through the hotel. ||If I was to return to Phong Nha, the only place I would stay is the Hang En...
Read moreGreat value! Could so easily be 5 stars but.. The staff and owners are fantastic, nothing is to much trouble, they even bought me fresh milk for my coffee and carried my motorbike up the steps into the hotel at night! I stayed in the front room on the first floor, with this you get access to a balcony through wooden doors but no windows you can look out of. The balcony is accessible from the corridor too so you need to close your wooden doors when you go out or turn on the aircon. There are windows high over the doors which can't be covered so the sun through them woke me early in the morning. The Bathroom was very clean and well tiled but there was a big ventilation hole about 30cm square to the outside with no mosquito netting so I picked up a few bites when showering. You get an odd selection of toiletries too, I was given 2 toothbrushes with paste, no soap and a small sachet of shampoo. The breakfast was different every day which was nice and coffee very good from bean to cup machine. The English speaking girl was a delight so despite the quirky annoyances I would stay...
Read moreWe arrived from Tam Coc via Overnight Camel Bus and therefore had no choice but to arrive at 4am. The family was so sweet and accommodating by allowing us to check in 8 hours early which completely reduced our stress levels after travelling for 7 hours on a terrifying bus ride. Both husband and wife greeted us with big smiles, carried our luggage upstairs and gave us water all before 4:30am. The walk is about 2 minutes from the bus station and couldn't have been easier. ||||The hotel is very clean, the beds are comfortable, the WiFi fast and the showers are hot...a backpackers dream. Also, breakfast in the morning is made with love and nourishing. ||||If you need a cost effective place to stay, centrally located to local eateries and all necessities, feel safe to...
