Attended for the first time last Sunday….and walked out half way through. Sadly, for those of us seeking respectful, traditional worship this is NOT the Church to attend. Uncontrolled children (one in particular) running up and down the aisle, throwing paper aeroplanes, screaming & squealing and running around the alter whilst the Priest was preparing Communion was just absolutely abhorrent behaviour. No idea who the parents were of these children - and especially the fore mentioned one who had zero teaching of how to behave in public, especially a place of worship for our Lord & Saviour - because they didn’t even try quieting their children, or instilling basic manners in them. There were many looks from other parishioners who obviously don’t like the chaos either but put up with it. Fr Brett, if you want your Church to grow, if you want Christians to stay and grow within your Church, asking parents to control their children is not offensive - it’s truth. It’s accountability in a Holy place of worship. It’s offensive to those of us who DO respect our Lord to miss parts of the sermon because children are out of control, and we’re forced to sit quietly and watch the chaos ensue, or walk out in search of somewhere else that takes Faith more seriously.
Very disappointing. Very...
Read moreI’ve been part of this church community for just over a year now, and it truly is a place full of warmth, good humour, and life. It’s led by a remarkable reverend who, when my partner and I bluntly declared that “church wasn’t for us,” welcomed us without hesitation or judgment. As it turns out, God had other plans and now we feel like part of the furniture 😊
What I especially treasure is how our church embraces and supports people and children with diverse neurodiverse needs. It’s a rare and beautiful thing to see an entire congregation not only accept this, but weave it naturally into the fabric of church life. We feel truly...
Read moreI am writing this as a response to the negative review as my experience at the church has been very different. I have been attending St Michaels for the last year and I welcome seeing little Spiderman at the church every Sunday. It gives me hope that I am attending a kind and inclusive church, something I didn't experience growing up in a church where rules and appearance were more important than loving and accepting people where they are at. I am also neurodivergent as is my son and I am grateful there are places we can go that are safe, warm and extoll the virtues that Jesus spoke about it in the gospels and encouraged...
