The Worst Egyptian Food Experience Ever I ordered Koshary — which is supposed to be one of Egypt’s most iconic and simple traditional dishes. It doesn’t need any fancy ingredients or protein — just rice, pasta, lentils, and a rich, spiced tomato sauce. The magic of a good Koshary lies in the balance of flavors and the seasoning of the sauce. What I got, however, was an absolute disaster. There was no rice at all — instead, they threw in chickpeas as if that would make sense. The pasta used was wide fettuccine-style, completely wrong for Koshary. The sauce had nothing to do with authentic Egyptian Koshary — bland, tasteless, and lifeless. To make things worse, there was more fried onion than actual Koshary, to the point that I had to remove half of it from the plate. I called the waiter, who was Syrian, and politely explained that this tasted nothing like Egyptian Koshary — in fact, it was terrible. He apologized and tried to calm me down, but what really shocked me was that he didn’t offer to replace the dish, didn’t inform the chef, or even acknowledge the issue properly. Instead, he kept insisting that this was how the “Egyptian owner” wanted it to be served. Honestly, I don’t buy that story. Either the so-called owner isn’t Egyptian and has no idea what real Koshary is, or the chef is just doing whatever he wants behind the owner’s back. In the end, I left the dish unfinished, paid $22.50, and walked out completely disappointed. That plate wasn’t worth even five dollars, let alone twenty-two. A total insult to Egyptian cuisine.

I had lunch today (12/11/23) at the Cairo cafe restaurant today with a relative, we both ordered the Bamya (okra) dish, and it exceeded all expectations. The generous portion of perfectly cooked rice, tender lamb, and the rich, fragrant tomato, onion, and spiced sauce made for a truly satisfying meal. The value for the price was outstanding. Our server, Kunal, played a big role in making our visit memorable. He was not only helpful and welcoming but also exceptionally knowledgeable about cuisines. Our conversation with him about his passion for cooking added a personal touch to the meal. What truly stood out was when Kunal surprised us with a complimentary container of assorted baklava to take home, elevating our dining experience even further. From the delicious food to the impeccable service, everything about this restaurant was exceptional. We’re already looking forward to returning to explore more dishes and perhaps indulge in their weekend banquet. Definitely recommend for those looking to try Egyptian food.

Cairo Café in Cannington is a proper hidden gem for anyone craving authentic Middle Eastern food in a relaxed, no-nonsense setting. The portions are generous — the plate came loaded with perfectly seasoned beef shawarma tucked in warm flatbread, a scoop of creamy hummus, crispy fries, and a fresh side salad. Everything tasted homemade and hearty, not the mass-produced stuff you get in fast-food joints. The service was friendly and straightforward — you get your food quickly and hot, which already scores points. The interior has that casual family-run vibe where the focus is on flavour, not fancy decor. Prices are very reasonable for the portion size, and you’ll definitely leave full. If you’re after something authentic and satisfying — shawarma, kofta, or anything grilled — this spot delivers. Couldn’t ask for a better balance of quality, portion, and value in this area. 📍 Recommended dish: Beef shawarma plate (pictured — juicy meat, soft bread, hummus, and crispy chips all on point)

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Cairo Cafe Cannington, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of spectacular! The food was simply divine—each dish beautifully presented and bursting with fresh, vibrant flavors. From the appetizers to the main course, every bite was a celebration of culinary artistry. The chef clearly puts a great deal of care into their craft, and it shows!

What truly elevated our evening, however, was the exceptional service provided by our waiter, Ali. From the moment we sat down, he greeted us with a warm smile that instantly made us feel welcome. Ali was not only attentive but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering thoughtful recommendations that perfectly complemented our meal.

In addition to his outstanding service, Ali was quite striking. With his chiseled physique and charming demeanor, he brought an extra layer of charisma to our dining experience. His well-defined features and confident presence added a certain allure to the evening, making our time at the restaurant even more enjoyable.

Overall, the combination of exquisite food and Ali's impeccable service made for an unforgettable dining experience. I can't wait to return to Cairo Cafe Cannington for another round of culinary delights and to bask in the delightful company of such an exceptional waiter. Highly...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a Mediterranean gem in Perth, and I can't say enough good things about it. This place combines excellent food with reasonable prices, making it a must-visit for anyone craving Mediterranean flavors.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a charming atmosphere. The restaurant's cozy ambiance perfectly complemented the Mediterranean theme, creating a delightful dining experience.

Now, let's talk about the food. Oh, the food! The menu offered a wide range of Mediterranean dishes, from classic favorites like falafel and hummus to mouthwatering kebabs and seafood specialties. Each dish was a burst of flavor, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients and the skill of the kitchen.

What sets this restaurant apart is not just the quality of the food but also the reasonable prices. Dining here won't break the bank, which is a refreshing change from some of the high-end eateries in Perth. You get exceptional Mediterranean cuisine without the hefty price tag.

In summary, if you're in Perth and craving Mediterranean flavors, this restaurant is a must-visit. Great food, fair prices, and a welcoming atmosphere make it a top choice for a delicious dining experience. I'll certainly be returning for more...
