ALDI — Local services in Melbourne

Had a terrible experience at this Aldi on Saturday 11th April with the store Manager (Taranga). He was rude, arrogant & un-helpful. I have processed an online formal complaint with Aldi & awaiting reply. The other staff were good & a big thank you to the very helpful gentleman working as security, who went out of his way to help me. I’ve shopped at Aldi for well over 15 years at different stores across Melb. Never have I encountered the aggression rude attitude I was faced with. Eg. In one instance, I requested a bed trolley for a heavy product. He brought it out & as he walked past me, I flagged him down thinking he didn’t see me, but he raised his hand up in my direction palm facing, as if to say “Be quiet talk to the hand gesture”. This is when I had enough. There is more to the story but will talk directly with Aldi. This Person needs to be counselled & educated on how to treat customers. I love Aldi but there is definitely room for improvement. I walked into this store, not realizing I’d given all my gold coins to my daughter to spend at school. I had to ask the customer service guy if I could borrow a coin for the trolley, only to hear him snicker about it with other customers later on. (I told him I was happy to take cash out and I ended up buying something to get a coin). There are some very helpful staff here but that was just uncalled for and with Mother’s Day fast approaching, not a really great way to promote the store to mums!

EDIT: Further reducing the rating after finding out that this Aldi store actually sells a trolley token. They could have easily directed me to get one instead of subjecting me to the above humiliating experience....

Have always had a terrific experience at Aldi Balwyn, the store manager Tarunga is always helpful and friendly, and has a lovely smile that can brighten up anyone’s day! Con goes out of his way to ask how I am, and has built a great customer relationship with me and many other customers. The staff do a great job of keeping the shelves stacked with stock and if I can’t see something I’m after I know Con will find it for me. The staff try their hardest to implement social distancing with the use of floor stickers, and plastic shields which makes me feel safe. The only downside to Aldi Balwyn is the customers who can be very rude sometimes, especially to the checkout staff, and yet the staff remain dignified, friendly...
