Mankee Yum Cha — Restaurant in Melbourne

My wife, my father in law have been to Man Kee in Balwyn for Yum cha in the past 4 weeks on a Saturday. My father in law is very picky for his food and I can understand why when you are in the 90s. He specifically asked to go the Man Kee as he loves the Prawn Ravioli (鮮蝦腸粉), the Ravioli is smooth, the Prawn is very fresh and the sauce is yummy. I have been ordering the Traditional Hong Kong Stir Fried Beef Noodles (乾炒牛河) and this is one the most difficult dishes to get it right as all Hong Kong people would know what I am talking about. The noodles have to be tossed evenly under the hot wok to get that special fragrance, the Beef has to be tender and the important part is not oily. The chef perfections this to the dot and I loved it. Last Saturday, I decided to try one of my favourite dim sims called Beef Ball (山竹牛肉)because it is hard to get a decent one as they normally appear in very dour colour (suggesting it is not fresh). Oh my god, when it was brought to my table, my eyes just lit and I could not help to take a photo first (I should have taken a video). It was so eye catching that you wanted to eat it straight away. As Chinese says, Colour, Fragrance & Taste are all perfect (色，香，味俱全). Another item worths mention was the Prawn Dim Sim (蝦餃), it was another one that makes you coming back for more. The skin has the right thickness, prawn is fresh & crisp. All of these are telling me they have a very nice kitchen & chefs. On top of that, the staff is very friendly, helpful and smiley. During my visit, I couldn't resist trying their Black Truffle with Shrimp and Scallop Fried Rice, which proved to be incredibly flavourful and satisfying. For my kids, the Beef and BBQ Pork Rice Rolls and BBQ Pork Buns were a hit, as they have been on previous visits. Their beverage selection includes refreshing options like the Red Bean with Ice Cream drink and other tasty choices like pineapple drinks, iced longan drinks, and fruit punch are delightful.

Went there for lunch on a Friday, we made a reservation for 1pm. There's ample parking, in and around the area. The ambience is decent,the seating is rather tight. There's no trolley service here fyi. You're required to order online if possible otherwise they provide you with a sheet of paper to place your order, now if you're experienced , you'd immediately know what to order otherwise, I found it a lil difficult to navigate as only some of the dishes had pictures and there were no descriptions on the online menu. there's only a general disclaimer for those with allergies especially. After you get through that hurdle however, the food is good and the service is good. The chicken feet are highly recommended here but I didn't order them. We ordered : 1.bbq pork steamed bun 8/10 (buns are soft and delicious) 2.siew Mai 7/10 3.pork and prawn noodles 8.5/10(fried noodles in a egg sauce with about 6 large prawns, my favorite dish) 4.bean curd with pork -8/10 Rice rolls with dried shrimp -7/10 6.pork gyoza- 6/10 7.prawn dumpling -7/10 8.glutinous rice steamed in lotus leaf ?- 6/10
