Tesoro has the potential to be a truly wonderful local coffee shop. The coffee itself is consistently good, which is a significant draw. However, the food quality is currently inconsistent. While sometimes the doughnuts and other items are delightfully fresh, on other occasions, they unfortunately taste as though they are not. In the food service industry, managing freshness and minimizing waste is a constant challenge, but prioritizing the serving of only fresh items, regardless of potential waste, would significantly enhance the customer experience. Another area for improvement lies in the service. While I have had some fantastic experiences at Tesoro, there have also been times when providing constructive feedback felt uncomfortable due to the potential for a dismissive or even rude reaction. While pride in one's establishment is understandable, consistently delivering a high standard of service is paramount. It would be beneficial to encourage staff to maintain a calm and patient demeanor when interacting with customers. While I appreciate the passion inherent in Italian culture, a more universally accommodating approach would ensure all patrons feel valued. Furthermore, it appears that Sundays might benefit from additional waitstaff. On busier days, the existing team can seem stressed and rushed, which is palpable for customers. Ensuring adequate staffing during peak hours would likely alleviate this pressure and contribute to a more relaxed atmosphere. My intention in providing this feedback is not to seek complimentary items. I am fortunate enough to be able to afford my family's meals and am simply invested in seeing Tesoro consistently deliver on its potential. My hope is that these observations will be taken constructively, as my family and I, along with other local residents, genuinely want Tesoro to thrive as a reliable and enjoyable establishment within walking distance of our homes. Our feedback stems from a desire to see Tesoro maintain and elevate its standards so that it remains a...

Tesoro Gastronomia is not the place to be if you’re a vegan.

I came into Tesoro Gastronomia today under recommendation. I’d heard the food was good and the menu listed online had a few vegan options. But things took a dip the moment I arrived. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were friendly. However, the menu presented online was not up to date with the one in-store. Whilst the website listed three vegan options, when I arrived there I was given a menu that had reduced them to only one. In fact, the entire Schiacciata di Tesoro section had been scratched off the menu. This is where two of the options advertised online as vegan were listed, so this was a big blow. I went up to the counter to talk to the staff, and the person I spoke to claimed that anything listed as “VG” was vegetarian. I politely corrected her in that “V” meant Vegetarian and “VG” meant Vegan in accordance with their menu. When I asked if they had any other vegan options aside from the panini, the person informed me they could do a pizza vegan friendly. But without any vegan cheese available, I wasn’t optimistic.

Between an online menu that doesn’t match their in-store menu, a lack of vegan options and staff who confuse which items on their menu are vegan and vegetarian, it’s safe to say that this isn’t the place for the...

Nice atmosphere, beautiful shop. We got the gnocchi and diavolo pizza. Gnocchi was amazing tasty and delicious. My husband’s pizza fell flat, minimal toppings and undercooked pizza base. I must say the service was well below par, we ordered a beer and it was forgotten, we then reminded the wait staff she then proceeded to give us the wrong beer. My husband didn’t say anything as felt sorry for her as it was opened beer bottle now. We then asked her for a Chinotto drink once she brought the beer. It never came we then asked her again, she apologised and then brought the drink and offered for a glass of ice as it was sooo hot, the glass of ice was filled and left on the counter top we then proceeded to wait another 10 mins and she never brought it so my husband got up and collected it for me. Staff realised it was forgotten again but didn’t apologise or acknowledge the incident. It wasn’t untill we went to go pay she stated she won’t charge us for the drink. Was just disappointing. Hopefully they can do better. Please note it was not...

Came here on a Saturday and surprising found it to be quiet. We were politely greeted and advised to head up the back where there was only a few tables taken. The overall aesthetics of the place was great however it lacked some background music so it made it kind of awkward at the back as your could hear other patrons and their conversations. We ordered a pinsa pizza, sfogliatella, caprese panini and a drink each. The coffee and Italian hot chocolate were very nice, the hot chocolate was amazingly thick, rich but also not too sweet. The pasta was definitely the star, however did need some chili on it (it was advertised to have it but didn't see/taste any). The pinsa and panini were pretty average (which isn't bad!) just nothing overall special. The Sfogliatella was a great way to finish though, deliciously crunch and that filling was divine. Overall, not a bad experience and price vs portion was great. Food could be better but enough for us to enjoy ourselves.

I love this place, I’ve been here numerous occasions or just stopping off quickly. I have tried breakfast & lunch and it’s so good! Not your average cafe with smashed avo on the menu but you won’t be disappointed! The pizza is amazing, quite different but so delicious! Their coffee is spot on EVERY time and prob the cheapest in the area. The staff are always lovely! I have also bought a hamper here as a present and it was so beautiful! It’s a bistro type cafe, lots of little things to buy and great if you need presents! Really lovely packaging. Since then went back for dinner!! Wow they choose a different part of Italy to focus on each month with a set menu. Everything was delicious and impeccable service, friendly too! See pics for our food 🥘 Ok and AGAIN had the NEXT menu recently, which was Abruzzo! See pics again!! 😃

Tried out Tesoro Gastronomia in Balwyn North, and their Pinsa blew me away! Margherita ($25) - tomato San Marzano, fior di latte, and fresh basil that made every bite super fresh and flavorful! Primavera ($30) - prosciutto San Daniele, rocket, Grana Padano, and a touch of balsamic that gave it that perfect balance. Both were so filling, I had to take the leftovers home! Rucola e Parmigiano Reggiano ($16) - rocket salad with pear, Parmigiano, walnuts, and a drizzle of that dreamy balsamic glaze. The staff were super friendly, and the wait wasn't long at all. I didn't get to try their desserts (I'll be back for sure), but this spot is a must! To make you feel even better about dining here, 100% of profits from Tesoro are either donated to local charities or used to sponsor the arts & events in the local community!
