The Evan Walker Bridge is undoubtedly one of Melbourne's hidden gems, offering a picturesque link between the bustling city and the tranquil Botanic Gardens. Named after the esteemed former Lord Mayor of Melbourne, this bridge not only provides a convenient pathway for pedestrians and cyclists but also treats visitors to stunning panoramic views of the city skyline.

One of my favourite walks during lunch. Whether you're capturing the cityscape by day or marveling at the illuminated skyline by night, this architectural masterpiece promises an unforgettable experience.

Having lived in Southbank myself, I have fond memories of seeing Pokémon Go players gathered on the bridge, adding to its vibrant atmosphere. It's also worth mentioning that the bridge connects Flinders Street Train Station to Southbank, making it easily accessible from various parts of the city.

And let's not forget about Ponyfish Island, the floating cocktail bar nestled under the bridge. It's a novel concept that has transformed a once-forgotten space into a bustling hangout spot.

Overall, the Evan Walker Bridge is not just a means of transportation but a destination in itself. Whether you're taking a leisurely stroll, enjoying a bike ride, or simply soaking in the views, this bridge offers something special...

I’m walking across the Evan Walker Bridge, one of Melbourne’s most iconic pedestrian bridges that connects Southbank with Flinders Street Station across the Yarra River. This curved steel and glass bridge was opened in 1992, named after Professor Evan Walker, a former Victorian Planning Minister who played a key role in transforming Melbourne’s Southbank from an old industrial area into the vibrant cultural and dining precinct we see today.

The bridge itself is not just a crossing—it’s a symbol of Melbourne’s modern renewal, encouraging people to walk, connect, and enjoy the riverside. From here, you get spectacular views of the city skyline, the Southbank Promenade, and the famous Flinders Street Station clocktower. On one side, you can see the lively cafes and restaurants of Southbank, and on the other, the historic heart of Melbourne.

It’s a place where history meets modern design, offering some of the best panoramic views of the city while capturing the spirit of Melbourne as a cultural...
