Golden Square Car Park — Local services in Melbourne

I went to collect my car at 12.45 AM this morning, having entered the car park with a ticket issued by the parking machine. I have 3 cards on me and cash ready to pay but the ticket that was issued was aparently invalid. The attendant took nearly an hour to issue a valid ticket after I called Victoria Police and it was understood that I could pay but was being detained. I was very upset and it ruined our plans and our son and fiancee took a cab back to their home. My wife and daughter (who has had recent spinal surgery) walked to the car park because they were concerned about me and trying to resolve this and I could not pick them up. Parked in this "secure" facility a few years ago, but came back to find my custom number plates stolen. Although they had CCTV footage, the person in the office told me the camera there wasn't very good at the particular location that I parked, making it more prone to these sort of incidents. The footage was given to Victoria Police, however the Police said they couldn't open/view the video files supplied by Golden Square. My plates have not been located, and I cannot re-issue them as they are now marked as stolen.

Absolutely terrible experience. I parked here under the Early Bird rate ($19) and was charged $70 instead. When I questioned it, staff told me I was meant to leave by a certain time, something never clearly stated before. I’ve parked here regularly for months, often 12–15 hours a day, and always paid the Early Bird price. Instead of helping, the staff admitted many other customers have complained about the same issue but I was offered no solution. If so many people are confused, the signage should be clear and eye-catching. Poor service, poor communication, and zero accountability — I’ll never park here again. A joke...
