The Emerald Peacock is a fantastic bar with plenty of space and a great selection of food and drinks. Conveniently located in the heart of the CBD, the multi-level venue offers a variety of spaces, each with a unique vibe. The indoor bar area has an energetic atmosphere, with stylish curtains around the booths that create a cozy, private feel in an open space. There’s also a well stocked bar, lots of standing room, and plenty of seating with booths and tables.
We visited for a Survivor viewing party with George and Johnny, which was held upstairs in the outdoor area. The area was spacious and well sheltered, perfect for the crowd of Survivor fans who arrived. The setup included plenty of tables and chairs, as well as a bar and lots of floor space. Despite some technical issues, the viewing experience was pretty enjoyable. The turnout was much larger than expected, so it was packed, though this was no fault of the venue. The drinks were excellent, and even when it started to rain, the atmosphere remained lively since we were under cover.
Overall, the Emerald Peacock is a great bar in Melbourne. The downstairs area has a classy feel, while the rooftop offers a fun, relaxed vibe. Prices are reasonable, in line with Melbourne’s standard cocktail rates, and the drinks are well made. I’d recommend stopping by if you’re looking for a stylish, relaxed spot to start your evening before heading up to their rooftop or exploring other parts...
Read moreWe had our engagement party here a few weeks ago. Initially the responsiveness and service was good, but the venue's unprofessional behaviour over the course of the evening and the following weeks has turned what could have been a 4 or 5 star review into 1 star. Over the course of the evening, we had four different "managers" come over to us and tell us they were "looking after us for the evening", pulling us away from our guests to have yet another conversation about the evening with yet another middle manager who needed an ego stroke. Most of the staff were good, but a couple of bartenders were intoxicated to the point that our guests commented on it, and one was clearly on stimulant drugs of some kind. We requested itemised receipts prior to the night, on the evening, and several days after the evening, and were only sent a receipt when we said we were unwilling to leave a positive review. We were told over a week ago that management would be in contact to discuss our unfortunately sub-par experience, but we've still yet to hear anything.
The night itself was fun, and a few of our friends were considering booking similar events here in future, but after we shared our experience with them it's safe to say that interest has evaporated.
All in all, this had the potential of being a stellar evening and stellar review, but the general unprofessionalism of the staff and venue has ruined it all...
Read moreWent here several times.. but this time was not a very good experience. I guess it’s a much better place to visit at night time & when it’s more busy. I came on Sunday not long after they open (around 5pm), they have a few levels.. only rooftop open at that time, and there’s we’re going anyway.. so straight to the rooftop we go. Only one couple there beside me & my friend. They have quite a few selections of cocktails there.. but since it’s not busy at all and some suggestions might help, I asked the recommendation from the bartender to make me something strong, smooth, and slightly sweet for a cocktail. Either he’s not in the mood at that moment, dislike having to give recommendation, or it’s just the way he is - doesn’t seem friendly or happy enough to suggest a cocktail for me. And yes, it can be tasted through on the cocktail I got - as pretty as it might look - flower garnish was picked fresh from the flowers in the vase at the bar.. taste wise unfortunately was not a very pleasant one. Very sweet one, and not on the smooth side.. kinda like a very sweet medicine 🥹 oh well.. lucky I’ve been here before so my overall judgement wasn’t only based...
