This review is based on my experience of Gold Class level cinemas. The facility is brand new as of March 2018. As a visitor, this comes with the obvious benefits of cleaninless, latest facilities and mod cons. The fit out upon arrival downstairs in the common area is first class. Upon entry into the Gold Class section itself was very impressive with a rock star welcome similar to that of a 5 star restaurant. Staff member greeted us at the door, while another led us to the cinema while explaining the facilities and services. As we were walking, you pass a huge impressive bar, complete with the bartender in full swing shaking up a drink, large expansive room you can eat and chill before heading off to your movie. Very impressive.
We were led right to our seats and each given a food and drinks menu and the staff member explained the process. "Press that blue button". The seats were fully reclinable, massive leg room and a big table between each seat. Inbetween the seats is this prominent illuminated blue led button which upon depression (will change to red in the interim -sweet ergonomics there), in mere seconds, a waiter will materialise from behind you, nicely kneel down and take your order from the menu. Very nice. However, the menu while expansive, items are very expensive for the quantities you are served. We got the lamb pizza, $24, chips with aioli dip $16 and a thick shake $9. Food was very high quality however and luxurious as you just sit there and the food comes during any point throughout the movie shortly after ordering.
The projection quality and sound equipment within the Gold Class cinema was to my ear and eyes no different to any other 'normal' cinema. If anything, the centre speakers were actually too prominent; however I digress. As our seats were closest to the exit I was worried about exterior music and noise penetrating into our cinema itself, however when the automatically closing doors shut at the beginning of the movie it was like a bank vault door. Quality.
Points of contention. The seat material is like valour/ suede and not sure how they will look in a few years time. The illuminated blue service button was too bright and had to be covered with my nice napkin, however I looked around and other couples didn't have theirs covered. The experience of Gold Class is heavily weighted towards you buying additional food and drink. This is evident with the expansive bar, presentation and explanation of the menu, top notch service and that prominent illuminated blue button. Problem is, I felt that bias towards that stream of revenue and isn't in my opinion very subtle or classy.
At $42 dollars per ticket, it's a good occasional experience that will impress. However, unless you are keen to try the menu (and reach deep into your pockets like I was instructed to do) and get there early enough to enjoy the facilities, just stick to the standard cinemas, as in today's world, the 'standard' level of comfort in most places are not that far behind to warrant the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI did Gold class recently with my partner. Service was awesome, but the food needs a do over. I spent $160 in total on 'bleh' food. I wished I went next door to the Sporting Globe for better and cheaper meals but the guy at the counter was insistent we get meals during the movie. BIG MISTAKE. We had an entree before the movie because we were hungry and that was an awesome feed (loaded wedges) During the cinemas we ordered two meals and a dessert. The $25 Parma there looked and tasted like a $6 chicken roll from 7/11 (far from the Parma we all know) and we had to question the staff whether that was really a Parma. My partner's $19 hotdog was a big bun with only half of it of a hotdog and tasted really cold and hard. We had the New York cheesecake and it was so bland and flourly I'm sure they didn't make it on site. This ruined my gold class experience. No doubt service was great, but do not buy meals at Gold Class. I really regret it and $160 dollars later, I feel like I got robbed. I wanted to contact them regarding this but they haven't answered my calls and there is no email address for me to send them. Hope they see this review and really change up their menus and hire a better chef. Sadly I won't order...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNot so gold class service and food availability. After deciding on what we wanted to order from the food menu, including something from the specials, we were told not only was our specials menu selection unavailable but about 6 other items from the menu were also unavailable so needed to reselect other food items. The service is pretty slow in the lounge area to begin with after being seater and after not having anyone return to either take our empty glasses or ask if we wanted more drinks, we went to the bar hoping to gain someone's attention. Eventually we did but was told to return to our seats in the lounge area and someone would take our order. Once inside the theatre the service did improve when we pressed the buzzer. Oversll though it wasn't a great experience considering the cost of the tickets and the food and drink. The food quality is average and certainly most tasted like frozen food products. Not much love and attention to presenting food with the chicken tenders bordering on being burnt and certainly dry. Will not be returning to this...
