I extend my utmost appreciation to Dr Rhys Clark who performed a anterior full left hip replacement for me. Having had an MRI which revealed significant osteo-arthritus in my left hip I contacted Dr Clark at StJohn of God Murdoch whose credentials I had read and his experience on the anterior hip replacement method encouraged me to utilise his skills. I underwent the surgery on the 19th July 2021 and had my final follow up appointment today. 16th October some 12 weeks later. I had 10 days rehab at Attadale Private Hospital. I arrived home following that stay and not once did I need to use the crutches, walking stick or rollater from that day. I was aware of the fact the risk of falling was always at the back of my mind however I was confident and patient in my movements and these aids I felt at ease not using them. Would be different to others with more complications than mine. The most important part of my rehab was ensuing all exercises prescribed were facilitated as best I could without shirking the issue. Over the 12 weeks I built up strength in my calf, hamstring muscles etc that were required to support my new hip etc. Also it was important to take all the prescribed 💊 medications for relief of pain associated with the surgery. I am now walking the best I have done for years and things like putting socks on and picking things up off the floor are now able to be done with ease. I thank Dr Clark and all his capable staff for giving me a new lease of life at 75 and have no hesitation in recommending him for any consultation on hips or surgery that may be recommended to follow. Read moreI had a total knee replacement 2 weeks ago and I am already walking unassisted. I have a little pain in my muscles surrounding the knee when walking or exercising but none of the severe arthritic pain that had stopped me going for walks, playing golf, enjoying my wildlife photography and ultimately affected my job. I have endured this pain on and off following a sporting injury a long time ago but the last 5 years have been terrible. So last week when I first walked without crutches I broke down crying to my Wife because it was the first time I have walked 2 steps pain free in longer than I can remember. What a feeling that was.I also know that this is early days and my knee will take time to fully recover but without the pain each day just gets better and better. I am 54 years old so fairly young for this procedure but I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone of any age whose life is being ruined by such pain. I chose Rhys after attending one of his seminars when I was still unsure of what to do. I was convinced on that day that I really had no choice and I couldn't carry on the way I was. Also I'd done a little research and Rhys offered the 'robotic arm assisted surgery' which I was favouring. I cannot express how happy I am with the outcome. From first appointment to post op Mr Rhys Clark, Dr Peter Garnett (anaesthetist) and their entire team have been wonderful, assuring me, keeping me comfortable, informed and motivated. I really feel I have been given a new lease on life. Thank you so much to all...
Read moreI have been seeing Rhys for 2 years regarding Right Hip pain and we decided that 2022 was the right time to do a Total Hip Replacement after trying many options to make the pain livable. During the last 2 years Rhys and his team have been fantastic, professional and helpful to assist my unique journey.
I had my THR 2 weeks ago and it has been the best decision as the pain I was feeling has gone. Leading up to they surgery I was a tad nervous but the entire process was seamless, the staff at the hospital and anesthetist all contributed to calming the nerves. I was in hospital for 2 nights and after coming home I was only on crutches for 1 week and at my 2 week follow up I am completely free of crutches! I'm amazed at how quick I am up and walking again.
Rhys takes the time to check in on you whilst your recovering at home which is so reassuring knowing he is only a text/call away if you need him.
Due to my unique journey Rhys has to have me as a patient for a bit longer yet but all I can say is, Thank you for giving me a new lease on life. I am only 46 and work full time, have 2 kids under 10 and I am super active so being able to walk and stand pain free is absolutely brilliant.
So, if you need any Orthopaedic surgeon my advise to you is ...pick up the phone and book in to see Rhys today. I can't...
