Yikes. Maybe it's because I've done other clay hand building classes so I have something to compare this hand building class to, but this class was severely disappointing. I was expecting the usual basic clay tools, those that you can get from a cheap shop as a starter pack, but what was provided was a popsicle stick, for example. OK so people have been known to improv clay tools. I'll just make the most of it. Wished I'd known that as I could have brought my own. Ultimately, we just used the studio space with hardly any intervention from the teacher. She did help roll out slabs for us to work with though so that's appreciated. My biggest issue was the end product. After having to agree to using the same glaze for the whole group, the glaze that was used was the ugliest green. She ran out of the agreed glaze and didn't offer us an alternative before just doing the shoddiest job. It was uneven and patchy and I doubt there was even 2 coats. After dabbling in pottery for a while, you know to never get attached to anything as so many things could go wrong. In this case, it was just sheer laziness or simply not caring what the paid customer ended up with as a final product. I cannot recommend her as a teacher with her passive aggressive attitude nor can I recommend this class. 3 stars was me...

I absolutely love my pottery class with Janine. She’s amazing. So patient, kind and helpful. I’ve been back two more times since my first class, I can’t get enough! Janine holds many classes, I’ve only done pottery on the wheel and glazing so far but I’d love to do more. I’ve seen Janine hold classes for the kiddies too, she’s also amazing with kids! Janine really puts in effort to get to know everyone who attends and remembers little tips for when you next come back. Her studio is in beautiful Montville, a perfect place to grab a coffee before your class or lunch after with outstanding views. The studio has such a buzz, I go alone but people of all ages attend and it’s great to have a chat with everyone. I highly recommend taking a class with Janine … no need to worry about your level of experience… anyone can go and Janine will guide your through everything you need to know. What an absolute joy this beginners pottery wheel workshop was. My fiancé (Josh) and I had such a great time. Janine is such a fantastic teacher, super friendly and very funny, nothing was too difficult for her- she was a gem! I wasn’t sure what to expect coming into this class, but honestly it was so much fun, you get a little messy, have a giggle with some cool people and come away with 3x cool mugs/cups/bowls (whatever you can create). I will be recommending this to everyone! Can’t wait to come back to colour and glaze our creations....
