My mother bought a battery movement clock for $270 and within the 2 year warranty period it started losing time and has now stopped. The pendulum has also started to rust. I appreciate my mother lives near the ocean but no information is given about the materials aside from "AMS wall clocks are reliable, aesthetically pleasing and are made from the finest high-quality materials. When you buy an AMS clock you are buying a guaranteed top quality timepiece that is sure to last a lifetime."
Their resolution was that we send it back at our expense for cleaning. There is no visible battery corrosion so the cleaning is unlikely to resolve the issue and won't do anything for the rust. The clock is largely glass and not having the original packaging, there is a good chance of it getting broken in transit.
I never leave bad reviews but feel I need to for this. $270 for a battery movement clock is a lot and the proposed warranty solution of paying to send it back for cleaning is not practical or fair. I also feel there should be more information around the materials given most of Australia lives in coastal areas and a lot of those close...

Read moreI wanted to repair a Barigo clock with a failed UTS movement (clock purchased from Whitfords Marine a few years ago, and the current replacement cost was to be about $139... plus shipping). I found the Clock Shop in Montville after a Google search. The Clock Shop website showed a diverse range of movements, along with useful specifications. I contacted the shop on a couple of occasions to ensure I purchased the correct mechanism to suit the thickness of the dial face. Both Holly and Kate were very helpful and provided further information and advice. Pricing was very fair and shipping very prompt. The mechanism fitted perfectly, and it is amazingly quiet for a step mechanism... nearly as silent as a sweep movement! The result is a good-as-new clock for a fraction of the cost of replacing it. I since learned they also supply cuckoo clock mechanisms and bellows, so I will be purchasing from them again soon... Thank you...
