Food was edible. Although wasnât as warm as I wouldâve like it to have been when we finally received our order. Took my daughter and son to this establishment in high anticipation of having a lovely dinner with the invaluable time I have with my kids. Initially we were greeted with politeness and good hospitality. However, this quickly turned sour once our order was placed, we were made to wait what felt like an age for our food. Several customers who had ordered after us had received their food well before ours. My children were very well behaved however started to show signs of agitation as a result of being hungry, given their respective ages are 11 and 7 years old, and being made to wait forever for our food as it wouldâve felt by them. After enquiring not once but twice our food still didnât appear. After waiting 45+ minutes from inception of our order to receiving our food actually arriving, at this point I didnât even want it anymore after the length of time we were made to wait and the frustration we were endured too by the sheer lack of prioritisation by the inept staff of this establishment. The steak was acceptable at best and was on the cold side which compounded the issue. My kids enjoyed their food once it had finally been cooked and brought to our table, like normal food establishments operate. In fact one of the customers that ordered after us had finished their food before ours had even been served. The atmosphere was dull and the young waiter boy kept turning off the air con although you could clearly see that everyone was warm in there. In fact after we received a heavy downpour it became stifling with the sudden increase in the humidity levels. Obviously Iâm not blaming this inept establishment for the weather but the fact that they couldâve left their AC unit running wouldâve made it more comfortable. I would consider myself a well travelled and refined individual dining at many restaurants from London to Sydney and a number places in between. However this one for its service and atmosphere rates at the foot of the table. The wooden spoon goes to Montville Cafe...
Read moreThere is such a beautiful range of places to eat in Montville, Maleny & Mapleton, but today we chose âMontville pubâ and I am so very glad we did. Let me preface this review, by explaining that I have autism, severe sensory issues and eating at a restaurant of any kind is a very difficult thing for me.
The place was quiet, early lunch for us, staff greeted us as we walked in, patiently waited while I decided what to do and what to eat.
We ordered, and decided to sit upstairs on the balcony. The gentleman serving us brought us our drinks, told us we were welcome to shift the table over to get out of the sun, this was very appreciated. The Tudor feel and decor is gorgeous, something I adored about the place! Our drinks were absolutely perfect. Nothing like the bottled rubbish you normally get in places.
The wait for food was short, and when it was delivered we couldnât believe our eyes. If you order a main meal here, donât bother with a starter or entree or side dish, because you wonât need it! In saying that, the two we got, house made mac&cheese balls with relish, absolutely beautiful, and the mezze plate, to die for. Presentation was beautifully done.
I got the vegetarian linguine, which again was beautifully presented, and tasted Devine! (Except for the artichoke hearts, but thatâs no fault of theirs, I tried it, still donât like them đ)
My partner got the fish and chips, the chips were cooked and seasoned to perfection and the fish was the best heâs ever had. Crisp and perfectly cooked inside and out, not dry or flavourless. Just perfect.
10/10 A+ will 100% be back!
Just a small side note - the gentleman moving the pallets around - ask for help, instead of scaring the life out of your customers trying to enjoy their lunch. No negative review points for this, because someone could have helped you, but please be mindful of how very loud those pallets were as you dragged them along the ground and then let them slap the ground the...
Read moreOur family lived in the Montville area for 24 years before moving away, so we decided that we should make a trip up to the range from the north side of Brisbane for a Father's Day event with the family.
Our pre booked group of 8 arrived and were promptly shown to our table. The building is very nice with a great rustic atmosphere.
Food was ordered and we were advised of "up to 45-50 minute wait" when ordering. The venue was fairly busy when we arrived, so while not ideal this was understandable. An entree plate of chips was brought up fairly quickly, which was helpful to try and calm the 3 young children in our group who were hungry and having a meltdown about having to wait. 45-50 minutes went by, no food - in the end over 70 minutes later our food started to arrive 2x parmagiana and a fish and chips, then calamari, wagyu burger and the kids meals shortly thereafter.
Feedback about the food:
Chips - great, very tasty and crunchy. Everyone enjoyed and they went quickly.
Fish and chips - Mum enjoyed.
Calamari - my brother's partner enjoyed, noted that it was a generous serving.
Wagyu burger - only half eaten. Comments were that the patty while wagyu, was bland and that the bacon had a sickly sweet flavour to it. My brother was disappointed in this.
Parmagiana - Dad and I had these. Chips were great, salad was fresh, tasty and nicely dressed. Parmagiana topping was nice, but the schnitzel itself was average at best.
Overall we left pretty disappointed - the wait time was very long and we felt that the food really wasn't worth such a long wait for most of the part. We didn't bother bringing this up with staff, because we were all tired by this point and the kids were starting to get disruptive towards the end. We had been tossing up between your venue and another hinterland venue and half of us commented afterward that we should have gone to the other place instead.
Fairly unlikely we will be back after...
