Martin Place has got to be the best of Sydney metro's new stations. A pinnacle of sydney architecture, and truly a showcase of the government's latest public infrastructure projects. Long, sleek metro platforms lined with designs reminiscent of Sydney's natural sandstone. Large inscribed "Martin Place" leave no doubt as to where metro commuters are along the lengthy underground line. Perhaps the most stunning feature is the vast, cavernous escalator space. Three storeys of escalators lead down from the surface to the metro concourse. The whole station feels vast, cavernous and open, a welcome contrast to most of Sydney's underground train stations.
