Such an amazing experience and a great addition to the Sydney night life.

From the music to the service and the food (ohh .. the food is amazing) - this place delivers.

We were fortunate to be treated to music in the Cuban style of "Buena Vista Social Club" - these guys delivered. There was dancing - but you didn't have to dance. These was conversation. There was music. But it was all optional. The music was there - and you could still have a conversation at your table.

I've been to some very nice restaurants recently. I'm impartial to Hubert, Bistro Rex. My partner's tastes have ventured furhter to Quay and others. The food at Mary's rivals almost any restaurant that we have been to. It's extraordinary.

We enjoyed the carrot, the blue swimmer tortellini, accompanied by the vegetable pie and the pork chop. All exquisite. All prepared by amazing chefs. Despite it's lowly origins - the carrot side dish is a stand out. The best carrot I've ever had.

The only (minor) criticism is the lack of light in the toilets. It's a little disorientating in there (perhaps after the effect of some of the Sangiovese).

I'll be back. Next time to try the lobster -...

I used to love Mary's for his simplicity, nice service and good food but coming back recently was disappointijg to say the least: New menu is welcomed but could use some re-work. Understand that depending on the drink you get, your "make it a meal" might end up MORE expensive that buying every items separately. That was my case getting the apple juice (which I was confirmed costs an extra $3 to the meal option). Also I was given a word of caution opening my drink as these happen to have been shaken. I proceeded as cautiously as you would when disarming a bomb. The thing burster through the cracks of the cap nonetheless, flooding the floor with half of my oh-so-expensive beverage. Don't get me wrong I appreciate the notice, but at the end of the day if the staff is aware that the drinks were shipped on a jack hammer, you might not want to put it for sale, especially considering how much they charge for it. Finally I asked for gravy on my fries and it's been taken on my order, but forgotten on my food. The burgers are still good but with other joint like BL Burgers etc., Mary's could really step up their service game. I'll probably give it a while before...

Food Critique

Critique is based on four things: Taste, Customer Service, Value for money and Presentation I will give a mark out of 5 followed by a comment Taste - 2/5 Customer Service - 2/5 Value for money - 2/5 Presentation - 3/5 Comment: This place is very inconsistent for the hype on instagram and social media. I have had an amazing experience there once or twice. I’ve been there nearly 15 times over the last few years but I keep thinking I’m going to get another great experience, but to my disappointment I did not have a nice experience. When they are busy food takes forever to be served, chips come out cold and dry like maccas chips after 30 mins, burgers are very greasy and meat smells like a butcher when it cools down, Marys at Newton is better I’ve been there like 20 times, there food is better but busy loud atmosphere makes it difficult to enjoy your meal having a chat with my wife. The burgers are small and when I compare them to other burger joints I think they are way smaller. Overall, I’ll keep trying them ever...
