A couple of weeks ago I was searching for "hungarian salami" and somehow come across this place. A bit of a surprise, as hungarian salami is made of pork and the Yamo website listed it as all beef, but... how bad could it be? You know, a lot of places promise you a lot and deliver not much, same as notorious russian dictator, promising three day special operation in neighbouring country and delivering a full scale war with massive casualties on both sides. As it happened, I was passing Ashfield the other day and decided to pay a visit. And yes, all the reviewers of Yamo are right. This is a right place to do your shopping. A very nice lady at the counter, happy to chat, happy to show the products, all fresh, all looking very apetising. Ended up with the whole bag of deli meats including beef "ham", turkey, chicken and of course the "hungarian salami" I was after. The last one, of course was not the real deal, neither the taste nor texture, but believe me, leaves all the other "hungarian salami" wannabes from coles/wooliees/costcos/igas and even most of the delis for dead. It is not greasy, it tastes great, the right mix of spices and perfect ratio of fermented meat to fat. Excellent job guys. today I called up looking for a stockist of yamo small goods pizza meats. A man named Feraaz answered, i didnt know that he was the owner. he was so polite. he advised that unfortunately butchers don't really stock it just pizza stores buy the bulk bags. After explaining that my children wanted to make their own pizzas and that we needed halal pizza toppings he offered for me to pick them up from his place as he was local to me but his store was 45 mins away. later on he called my husband and met him at our home and dropped them off and refused to take any money. with all the horrible things going on in the world restored my faith in humanity. I noticed a big difference in the quality of cold meats between non halal & halal.. and to be honest I was never a fan of the halal as it never tasted authentic so I stopped eating it ... UNTIL TODAY I went to a store that is 100% halal that sells authentic salamis proper chicken breast cold meats Turkey beef you name it and his pepperoni .... I actually cried.
