The owners seemed to be not bothered receiving guests at his premises. We have been asking for white natural wine as recommendation but we’ve been told that he is currently in the processes of remodeling his wine list and therefore many wines on the list are not available.
The wine he recommended to us was indeed a very very nice wine, but at a price tag of 62 EUR for a bottle of Italian white natural wine from 2018 i was indeed a little shocked. Not that I only import wine myself, and work in hospitality I would have expected such an exceptionally expensive wine compared to the wines on his list would have been announced before presenting it to us.
At our departure I have told the owner that we do live in Anywerp where he replied “ enjoy your vacation” which clearly means that he thinks he never sees us again thinking we are tourists. It was disrespectful and also a poor business decision because little details like this can make a difference to a small business especially in a city like Antwerp.

Well-stocked in both natural as more traditional wines, it's easy to say you'll find something to everyone's taste here. Every wine is served with the necessary knowledge but also the correct care. While the service might seem casual and easy, every detail is thought of. No wine should be left untried, even if it takes 7 visits to do so. Located north of the MAS en het 'Eilandje', Bar Brut offers a view on the drawbridge decorated with Dutch poetry. For the peckish, a daily-altered sandwich is always on the menu, although it's not unusual to quench your hunger by drinking some more. My first visit in winter did not change our level of consumption, so to every first-timer: bring a good book, your wallet, leave your phone on mute and go waste...
Read moreIt's a small place away from the city center. We didn't need to book the spot but the bar does seem to be popular and it gets quite busy there, so it's best to keep this in mind.
The wines we had a chance to try were very tasty and it was also our first time trying the orange wine, which was a pretty exciting experience, as we have never seen it before on the menus of other wine bars. We also enjoyed our snacks there and the people attending us were very friendly. I would recommend...
