I was very disappointed by my shopping experience at this store. I've been running for +10year and I went in (for the first time) with the expectations of good customer service that would include knowledge about running shoes and different types of needs for different feet/style. I was met with the absolute opposite

The employee looked completely disengaged and bored out of his mind. I received a blank stare and a "ok so what shoes do you want me to get?" After I asked for his suggestion for a high arch and a forefoot stride. He did not offer any suggestions apart from bringing me shoes from different brands with no explanation of what they targeted. It was hard to get his attention even though the store was not overly crowded. Only feedback was "try them on the treadmill". They had such a limited selection of shoes that I had few options in my size (6). He kept leaving while I was trying them on without really coming back to see if it was a good fit or not. I had to go get him again and again to try other shoes.

After trying 4 pairs, I tried to get his attention again because none of them were fitting properly and I abandoned and walked out.

I went to Sport Expert, 2 streets away, and received great customer service and tips and tricks for what to look for my type of feet and running. I even spend almost twice my original budget there because I was feeling confident and satisfied with my new shoes.

It's very disappointing to see that I can get better information and help from a general "sports" mega store versus a specialized running store. I will never be...

A couple of weeks ago I went to the Running Room DIX30 knowing very well that I needed a new pair of shoes. My last few pairs of shoes had been Asics, but I had decided to see what the sales consultant would recommend. I was advised by the manager, I believe her name was Melanie. I really felt like I was talking to someone who knew their products and was able to vulgarize the technical jargon and clearly explain why she was making specific recommendations. All this while training new employees. Needless to say I was impressed. For the first time in my many years of buying shoes, I was told that I have a wide foot and I should be looking for brands wider than Asics. She followed up by having me try a pair of New Balance shoes. They felt like I was putting on a pair of slippers I had owned for years, albeit they were a little tight. Noticing right away that they were a bit tight for me, she immediately recommended the wider model. Unfortunately, they did not have them in stock. However, she offered to have it shipped to my house. Before confirming the sale, she proceeded to very clearly explain the return/exchange policies so that I understood how to try the shoes at home and not run in to any issues if I chose to return or exchange them. I visited the store on Saturday at 4:40 PM to browse their shoe selection. A salesperson approached me, asked a few questions, and explained that to find the right fit, I’d need to run around the store a couple of times.

At the same time, I noticed another staff member mopping the floor, which raised some safety concerns. I asked whether it might be better to return another day since it appeared the store was cleaning and preparing to close.

However, the salesperson reassured me that I’d be able to find the right shoes before 5 PM and that my current footwear had enough “grip” to run safely.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. I slipped, fell backward, and injured both my back and wrist.

It’s unacceptable for staff to be mopping floors while customers are being asked to run. This practice is unsafe and unprofessional. I’m very disappointed with the experience and feeling like making a quick sale was more important...
