Canada Day Fireworks Celebration – Burnaby Central Park (July 1, 2025)

This was my first time attending the Canada Day fireworks at Burnaby Central Park, and overall, it was a good experience!

The fireworks show lasted about 15 minutes and was beautifully done — starting off gently and building up into a grand, colorful finale. The display featured a variety of firework types, creating a visually stunning experience. Hats off to the organizers for putting together a well-coordinated and enjoyable show.

Crowd and traffic management were handled decently given the large turnout. Entry and general movement within the park felt organized. However, exiting the venue was a bit challenging. With thousands of people trying to leave at the same time, getting a cab or accessing public transit was difficult. This is one area where improvement would make a big difference next year — perhaps designated pickup zones or shuttle services could help.

The park had plenty of food stalls and water stations, which was great for people who didn’t bring their own. A mix of snacks and meals were available, though incorporating more diverse, cultural food options could enhance the experience. Public washrooms were available at some key points, which was a plus.

Given the grassy environment and summer season, mosquitoes were definitely an issue. It might be helpful if vendors could sell inexpensive mosquito spray or if there were some repellant stations around.

Park needs clay, cut outs. Some fool from Parksboard double booked a hardball diamond for Telus and their slow pitch teams the poor guys from Telus had to pack up their BBQ's and move to another part of the park, the Parksboard person that showed up didn't make the mistake it was obviously someone at City Hall. The Telus spokesman was very nice and realized we had been using the park for quite sometime, I think the guy from Telus should get a written apology and refunded some money back, I heard him say it cost $3,000 to rent the park for 3 hrs...

Not a baseball player, but I just came here with my family and friends to watch the Canada Day firework. It is pretty exciting to watch the firework at such a close distance; in Hong Kong, the fireworks are giant, but you can only see them on the two sides of the harbour. I prefer the fireworks here instead. Happy...
