My mom just passed away and left behind a few diamond rings. To find out what they are worth, I made an appointment with Harold through Ann Louise Jewellers in Metrotown for an appraisal. Harold is very knowledgeable and thorough. He provided me with exactly what I am looking for. I am very satisfied and happy with his service. Only problem is with Ann Louise store. The staff tried to jam too many customers with not enough time in between. All they are interested is who will get the commission. Harold's website (Imperial Gem Lab) clearly stated that one should allowed half an hour for each piece of jewellery to be appraised. I told the staff at Ann Louise store that I have 4 pieces of jewelry to be appraised. I am surprised to find out that they only allowed 30 minutes for my appointment. From the appointment book, I can see the next customer also has 4 pieces of jewelry and was also allowed half an hour time. My appointment ended up taking an hour and the customer for the next appointment ended up waiting for over half an hour and the customer for the next next appointment has also shown up. I don't know how they ended up sorting out the mess. Regardless, I will definitely recommend Harold's service to anyone but the staff at Ann Louise store should allow more time for each of the...

I went to Harold for an appraisal today. Seeking help, information and clarity regarding an antique diamond ring. I had two appraisals, one from 25 years ago and one from last week. They were vastly different on many points and I was so confused. The two past appraisals were done by Jewellers (1 page document) and not done by a Certified Gemologist!!! Today, I experience the difference of a professional Gemologist. Harold knows his gems. The appraisal fee was very fair and appropriate for Harold’s expertise. I am the executor of an estate and on short notice, I was able to book a 2 hour appointment at Imperial Gem Lab Ltd for a jewelry appraisal for probate/estate via their online booking system. Harold Lindsay was kindness personified. I loved that we carried in a conversation while he worked. He answered all of my questions, explained the process of the valuation and in between tasks we spoke about shared travelling experiences in Europe, Spanish Literature and family. I left my appointment with a weight off my shoulders, a hard copy of the valuation (with pictures) and by the time I got home there was an email with a PDF version for my files.
