Half the prices were unmarked and when asked the cashier about a specific product thst wasn't tagged, he had to make up some amount and then the other guy stepped in & few minutes later somebody came over and said the price was misquoted and the amount was three times of the original price quoted for the product. Absolutely bizarre.. Never going back at this shabby place.
REPLY::: To you're question Mr Business Owner. Firstly let me be clear so its easy for you to understand. I don't need to decide what I am saying. Maybe I didn't explain myself clearly the first time. Let's take this a step back and explain it to you in an easy way.
I picked up a product from the shelf and was looking for the price tag on it. When I couldn't find it, I had to ask the cashier. The cashier didn't know it either. He tried to check the system but since the product didn't have any SKU he asked for assistance from another person who was restocking the shelves on the floor. This guy walked towards the till, he tried to look for the price in the system and quoted me $6 for it. The person who whoted $6 was wearing black glasses, chinos & red shirt. Exactly 10 minutes after when I was about to checkout the same dude was hovering over the basket with price gun in his hand and marked the product $18. If my math isn't going then 6*3 = 18 which is three times the price that was initially quoted. I hope this clears the confusion.
Anyways I found the same product by browsing at different grocery store. The name of the store I got it from was Sanjha Punjab on McKnight and their pricing was less than what you sell it for. If you need more proof to substantiate my argument, I can gladly share the photo of the product along with price tag from you're store & the receipt from the other store with their price tag. I don't want to argue any further. I learned my lesson and I realised there are other options as well to shop. The only reason I visited you're store was coz, it was recommended by my friend who spoke very highly of you and about you're store. Thank you for taking time to read the comment and...
Read moreBombay Spices is a nice Indian grocery store that keeps stock of almost everything that is required for Indian cuisine.
All the gourmet packaged and bottled food items, such as a variety of flours, rice, sugars, oils, legumes, jaggery, papads, spices, and ready-to-eat snacks of well-known companies of India and a few of Canada (for example: Surati snacks) are well identified and organized in spacious aisles.
Moreover, the farm produce, also imported from India, is usually fresh and in abundance if you visit the store on Friday or Saturday mornings since on those days the store gets deliveries.
After 24 years in Toronto, recently we have moved to Calgary. In 4.5 months, we have visited this store several times and found the staff friendly and helpful; have not seen any employee misbehaving with anyone.
Flaws: We have noticed that prices of most items and produce are significantly higher than they were in the greater Toronto area. All products must be ethically priced without a tendency of taking undue advantage of people who depend on and trust you.
The store has displayed notice on the entrance that there is no public washroom available in the store; nevertheless, in my view, the employees/owners should be liberal and behave like good human beings when some customers - especially children, elderly people, and diabetics - have an emergency and cannot control.
Instead of adhering to the rules and making a big fuss, they need to cooperate and handle the situation patiently and tactfully.
The ugly experience of the mother of a child (I read in the review of Mr. Niraj Kakadiya) could have been avoided at any cost. A wise businessperson would avert such occurrences, for there is absolutely no benefit in hostile behavior and losing the customer/s for ever.
I gave five stars for all the pros and hope the management will pay attention to genuine complaints of customers and improve...
Read moreIt’s time we had an Indian/Asian Market that is not so far up north! The selection is good for a smaller store. I’d like more frozen items (I like the frozen entrees and roti wraps I can get up north) but they had quite a few to choose from. The dry goods and spices are excellent and well priced and I got some excellent snack products here. I loved the spice variety. The staff were friendly and the store was well maintained, clean, well lit, etc. It’s a pleasant place to shop and take your time looking at everything. But when I went a month or so ago, ALL the produce was in very bad shape. I will try again this week and promise to update my review if it’s better but I can only report on how it was when I went. NOTE: This location was once a great veg market that failed because 36th street is the worst for gridlock and I once was stuck trying to cross the street to this mall for five light cycles due to trains, problems with the light timing, and backed up traffic. I know a lot of people take back roads to avoid the nightmare of navigating 36th ST. Also, the parking lot jams up on both ends when traffic is heavy due to poor design. Why do I mention this? Because so many stores in this mall fail, BUT, this is a beautiful little store and I would like it to stay so I will grit my teeth and go to support it! If this place fails, it’s the mall, not the store at fault, I’m sure. (Someone needs to open an Indian or produce market on 17th AVE...
