Yesterday (October 17th), I went to Neon Lights for my birthday, and it turned out to be the worst birthday ever. My family and friends came with me hoping to have some fun, but instead we were targeted and harassed by a group of boys, probably around 16–19 years old.
At first, one of them hit me (the birthday girl) with a dodgeball, and I thought maybe it was an accident. But soon after, while we were sitting down taking pictures, another ball hit me right in the face. My friends were worried, and that’s when I realized this wasn’t an accident anymore. I even saw one of the boys getting ready to throw again, but my friend’s boyfriend noticed and stopped him before he did.
Then, while we were standing near the middle area taking more pictures, I got hit in the neck so hard I almost fell off one of the tall sitting spots. As we were leaving that area to go jump around, one of my friends got hit in the face so hard it broke her glasses. That’s when I had enough. My friend’s boyfriend and I went over and confronted them, and I also told the staff what was happening.
My dad came over to talk to the staff, and while he was explaining what happened, one of the boys threw a ball and hit my dad right in the face. They even tried to go after my mom thankfully they missed. And instead of calming down after being reported, the group of boys actually got even more aggressive.
As my parents were talking to the staff, one of the boys came up to where we were standing and started arguing with my dad, even though my dad ignored him. After that, they began following us around the park every time we moved to a different area to avoid them, they would go to the same side too. They were hiding dodgeballs inside their shirts and throwing them from high structures so the staff wouldn’t see. It honestly felt unsafe and stressful because they wouldn’t stop targeting us no matter where we went.
The staff just stood there and watched everything happen. Honestly, they were the most useless staff I’ve ever seen. They barely tried to help they took away a few dodgeballs, but the boys just hid others so they could keep throwing them. The staff saw everything including my dad getting hit and still didn’t step in or call security or police.
To make things even worse, those same boys hit my 6-year-old sister later on. The fact that they had the nerve to go after little kids and adults is just unbelievable. They were finally kicked out, but somehow they snuck back in through the back door, and we had to spend the rest of the time watching our backs because we didn’t want to get hurt again.
This was supposed to be my first real birthday party with friends in three years, and these horrible people along with the staff’s complete lack of control ruined it. I hope those boys are banned for life, and management seriously needs to train their staff to handle situations like this and maybe try hiring actual adults to handle situations better.
Worst birthday ever. Thanks a lot...
Read morejust had my own birthday party here, if i could i would give this place 0 stars.
first off, the service we got was absolutely terrible. when we got there, we were told that our party host was not there, so we had to wait around 20 minutes to get checked in. however, the same girl that told us we couldnt get checked in earlier was the one who checked us in, so there was virtually no reason why we had to wait 20 minutes. when i did finally get checked in, i was told i had to wait another 20 minutes for our table, but those 20 minutes ended up being around 35-45 minutes, meaning we were able to go to our table late and not at the reserved time. when it was time to go to our table, the workers explicitly asked me where my parents are, when i had previously told them that i was the organizer for my own birthday party. when we did get to the table it was very squished. there were not enough plates, cutlery, and water bottles for the amount of people that i booked for.
when we finally got to jumping around, there was a group of children coming up to my friends and i calling us slurs, such as the c-slur since most of us are asian. i mentioned this to a staff member, even pointing them out, but they did absolutely nothing and shrugged it off. my friends and i were very offended by those childrens actions, but the staff did not seem to care about that.
we were told to only have one person on an advanced trampoline at all times, even though every single one of us were adults, this made us not have as much fun as we should/could have. we signed a waiver and everything, so therefore we know we are liable for anything and we should be able to do what we want.
i was charged more for adding an extra person on the day of than when i was booking it, which is completely unreasonable in my opinion. i was charged $40 online when i was originally booking it, however when i was there today i was charged almost $50 per person when i was adding them. that makes no sense to me because adding one more person should not really affect anything.
the whole place is super crowded. i lost my friends multiple times. children kept running into me and interrupted my jumping by running right in front of me. i understand that the children are trying to have a good time, but i felt like the staff were paying extra attention to my friends and i, even when we were minding our own business, simply because we're older kids.
also, the washrooms are quite literally the worst washrooms i have ever seen in my entire life. myself and another one of my friends ended up throwing up because the smell inside was absolutely terrible. for the price of this place i feel like they should at least be able to afford a febreze air freshener.
overall the service was absolutely terrible. i could not recommend this place to ANYONE. it was a complete waste of not only our time but our...
Read moreI took my son and my daughter to this place on Sunday. It was one of our favorite places to spend family time together. However, this time was the worst. We would never go back again. And here is the thing:
We went to the check-in counter as usual and gave the staff our membership card (the toddler pass—10 tickets). After she went through the system, she told us that our card didn't exist in the system. This is ridicule, because this is not the first time we have used this card. Then I asked her to check our records in the system regarding the name or phone number, and it turns out that there is nothing regarding our information in the system. The staff asked us to provide a bank statement to prove the purchase of the membership card, which I did. Then she claimed the price was incorrect and said the 10-time card should cost $190, but we paid $110.25. I explained to her that what we purchased was the 10-time toddler pass, which is about $98, and the socks. Then the staff said that the card was expired. I told her that no one told us there was a year-end expiration date for the membership card when we purchased it (my husband was there too). He said he didn't hear anyone say that either. She said that everyone will tell the customer that there is a year expiration date, and we didn't get it maybe because of misunderstanding! I know I'm ESL but I don't think my husband and I both missed that information. In the end, the staff let my two kids enter to play for free that day. I didn't have time to speak with a manager about this since our friends were waiting. I can only give this place a one-star rating for handling this situation:
First, their system couldn't recognize our card, which is not our problem. We've used this card a couple of times without issues. Second, asking for a bank statement was a very rude approach. If we hadn't purchased this card, why would we have it? Third, after showing the bank statement, they said the card was expired. I checked the card, the ad and info boards everywhere in the place, and the website later, and there is no single mention of a one-year validity period for the...
