My wife and I had been looking for a large rug for our new apartment and chose to visit the long-established Indo Designer Rugs on 17th Ave SW. We were met by Mike who very graciously showed us around and explained the different rug types to us. We had selected a 7x9 ft Chobi rug from their website but found on inspection that the colors were not quite what we had expected. Mike then very quickly showed us several other rugs and we found one that we liked and now own. Their 48 Hour Test drive of the new rug in our home was most useful and the rug never left our house after that. The store is frankly amazing with so many high-quality rugs and some very interesting pieces of furniture. The whole experience was a joy and we will be back before too long to see what other rugs or pieces of furniture we can make our own. I should note that we had looked at the modern rugs on the website and on initial viewing I did not think they would appeal to me. If you visit the store I strongly suggest that you view these rugs because, in person , they are frankly stunning. I find it hard to believe that anyone will leave the store without a smile on their face and a rug under their arms, we...
Read moreWe first became familiar with Indo Designer Rugs a few years back while out and about for a Saturday lunch on 17th Ave. Several beautiful rugs were on display in the window of Indo Designer Rugs, so we poked our heads in to look around⦠only to become totally in awe of a large, breathtaking Ardabil design hanging in the rear of the store. Some of you travelers and history buffs may already be familiar with the most famous Ardabil carpet, on display at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. That is when we met Mike and got a lesson in design, cultures, and the intricacies of hand weaving⦠fascinating!
Fast forward to July 2020⦠Upon recently returning to Calgary, we found ourselves finishing up renovations to our home and requiring floor coverings. We decided to head back at Indo Designer Rugs, not to window shop, but to purchase 2 wool rugs! Nish worked patiently with us to find the ideal design and colors to complement our new wood floors. His knowledge and suggestions were greatly appreciated, and we are thrilled with our new Indo-Persian rug purchases⦠truly handmade works of art. Thank you both, Mike and Nish!

Ā Ā Ā Read moreThey has a big collection of rugs but they won't be helpful if they think you are not going to buy from them. I am from Iran and I did not know that they have no Persian made rugs here. Anyway I went there to explore the rugs but when the owner found out that I am from Iran he kind of stopped helping/educating me and kind of tried to kick me out. He asked me how come an Iranian guy will buy an Indian made rug, so go to the House Of Persian Rugs. I tried to be polite and I told him that I would like to explore your gallery as well since they are very well and different with I have seen so far and also you got a huge collection of them. Anyway, after a while, he pushed me toward the door and said "I have an appointment with some designers and I can not help you any more. Book an appointment and come back later." There were some other people there that were exploring and I do not know why I was the only one who...
