🍜 Thai Tai on 17th Avenue: A Symphony of Flavors 🥖**

Located in the heart of Calgary, Thai Tai on 17th Avenue stands as a gastronomic landmark that has been delighting locals and tourists alike. With its vast array of offerings from refreshing soups, hearty subs, to the always fun and flavorful bubble teas, there's something for everyone. 🍹

Ambiance and Décor 🌺

Stepping inside, the restaurant offers a cozy dining area that allows patrons to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Those who prefer an open-air dining experience can take advantage of the al fresco seating outside. Whether you're watching the world go by on a busy afternoon or enjoying the tranquil evening, Thai Tai provides the perfect backdrop.

One of the most intriguing features inside are the myriad of stickers plastered on the walls. They're not just any stickers, but delightful messages, doodles, and memories penned down by previous customers. It's as if each sticker tells a story, a tale of a great meal shared, a date gone right, or perhaps just a simple day out with friends. These testimonials not only add a unique touch to the décor but also resonate with the community feel the restaurant aims to promote.

Culinary Delights 🥘

The menu at Thai Tai showcases a blend of traditional and contemporary. On my recent visit, I decided to indulge in their Thai fried – a delightful twist on fries served with a choice of beef or chicken, topped with an array of fresh vegetables. The flavors were robust, and the meat tender, making it an instant favorite.

To accompany my meal, I opted for the spicy sub with beef. The sub was a perfect balance of heat, flavor, and texture. The beef was cooked to perfection, and the spicy kick was just right, neither too overpowering nor too mild.

Refreshments 🥤

No meal at Thai Tai is complete without trying their renowned bubble teas. Offering a spectrum of flavors, each bubble tea promises to be a refreshing end (or start) to your culinary journey.

Facilities 🌟

Cleanliness is next to godliness, and Thai Tai has taken this adage to heart. One of the notable aspects of the restaurant is its immaculate toilets, which is always a reassuring sign of their commitment to hygiene and customer comfort.

A Few Considerations ⏳💰

However, every silver cloud has a gray lining. While the food and ambiance are par excellence, the service speed might be a tad slow, especially during peak hours. Additionally, the pricing, given the quality and portions, leans a bit on the steeper side. It's essential to note, however, that exceptional experiences often come with a price tag.

In Conclusion 🌆

Thai Tai on 17th Avenue, Calgary, is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. From its vibrant menu to its unique décor, every visit promises to be memorable. Just remember to perhaps visit during off-peak hours and come with a slightly flexible budget. After all, good things in life are worth waiting...

I was very disappointed with my food (35$) worth as I was exited from hearing some good things about this place. I got the traditional bowl with charbroiled pork, rice, sauce on top of the meat and veggies with 2 spring rolls on top. The pork was not traditional charbroiled sweet pork at all like I’ve had from many other Vietnamese places, it was quite fatty and the sauce was almost flavourless and the cut of meat wasn’t the same as every single other “charbroiled pork” dish I’ve ever ordered from other Vietnamese restaurants which was odd and seemed to be false advertising. The coconut rice was very weird and tasted almost artificial if that makes sense, the texture of the rice was off as well especially when I paid 2$ extra, now I wish I got regular rice instead of wasting my money. The spring roll was below average and not enough meat inside, almost mushy in the filling as well, very crispy though which was nice. The shrimp salad roll I ordered on the side was ok, the shrimps were kind of small and the peanut sauce was underwhelming as well. The last item I got was the “satay tofu”, the sauce didn’t taste like it was advertised at all. I was expecting a yellow ish peanut-y chicken satay type of sauce but I could just be mistaken on that yet I’m pretty sure all satay sauce is quite similar regardless of the protein. This fried tofu was covered in a bright red sauce that was a little spicy and not the best flavours at all, again feels like false advertising here as well. My favourite part was the sweet soya chilli oil type of sauce I ordered on the side. At this point after I taste tested everything I basically had to rely on drenching my food in sauces so it wouldn’t go to waste, if I didn’t have sauces then it would be very hard to willingly eat and...

place was busy, and this was my first time there. there is no line up area to order, or wait. it is just all mixed together. i ordered a bubble tea and ultimate bowl. received my receipt/order number. I received my drink first and waited to hear my order number. after finishing my drink and waiting a few more minutes, I walked up to the counter and asked about my order. it was there, ready, just waiting. When a customer gets an order number, the kitchen's chit does not have that number on it. when they call out the food, they call out what it is and not the order#, making an order number useless. it was busy and staff were scrambling hard, playing catch up. food was decent, nothing to rave about. staff were very disorganized, the restaurant as is unorganized. the till is right when you walk in but the large menu can't be seen unless you go further into the restaurant. +1 decent food +1 because I was told this is good place to go -1 restaurant is disorganized -1 ordering system -1 overall experience for a vermicelli bowl, this is nothing special....

This place gets relatively busy at all times of the day but mainly dinner time. You can order online for pick up or they also have delivery via skip. It's not that this place is delicious but more so it meets the price point to quantity to having it taste just right. A frequent item I get is the chicken (whole grilled chicken breast) and beef (4 thinly sliced beef wrapping a slice of onion and grilled) + one spring roll on rice bowl for $11.95. They are heavily staffed for efficiencies and it is reflected with the adequate amount of time you wait for your food to be ready. Their ulitmate satay noodle bowl for $13.95 is good but does get messy (self explanatory). They do not skimp on content. Good service here and simple enough. Not greasy, oily only for satay base and not salty but flavourful. Worth visiting.

Owner/Manager reached out like 30 min after the review. I didn’t take the refund offered, however, did say I’ll give their new location a shot. Once it’s open. This is a temporary place as their new place opens up. Thank you for reaching out so quickly. Look forward to trying your new location in the future. Old review This is your new Thai Thi location….yes the old location needed an update, I honestly think you should have kept that and not go with a ghost kitchen that serves 30 other restaurants. Unless the owners sold out to this. This felt cold going to pick up our food, no service to speak of, no where to eat, no friendly front counter person. Similar to self checkout till in my opinion. Food was ok. Tasted same except the salad rolls, they tasted off and found a hair in ours.
