I bought a Wii U from The Deck Box over a week ago now, and although I haven't had too much play time with it as I am in the middle of exam season, it works wonderfully! There are a few minor cosmetic flaws, which I completely expected for a console from 2012, but there are no flaws related to the performance of the console itself. It runs very smoothly, there is no lag or crashing, and the console is able to turn on and off perfectly with no issue. The employees at The Deck Box were also very kind, understanding, helpful, and happy to answer all of my questions (and I had a lot, trust me!). The only problem I've had so far is that the console was quite dirty when it arrived. However, I was planning on cleaning it and sanitizing it anyway due to the current pandemic, so it was no real issue for me at all. Overall, I highly recommend buying a console from The Deck Box and will likely be purchasing from them again. They're incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and obviously very passionate about what they do. They're great! I have no complaints. Not to mention, all the consoles are also incredibly reasonably priced. I've seen old consoles at other places go for 200$-500$, but The Deck Box offers really affordable pricing. It feels like they really want to make people happy rather than make a...
Read moreI was told by a friend that The Deck Box purchases yugioh cards and offers prices for them that is about 70% of the online market. I brought in binders full of about 1000 holos that I was willing to sell if the price was right. I was offered $100 for all my cards including commons, but he had a few he put aside that he said he would give me $80 for but he would only give me $20 for the rest. I took the $80, but I wouldn't sell the rest for $20. I took my cards and sold them online I currently have made $450 off the cards that he offered for $20 and I still have cards left to sell. So from my first experience with The Deck Box I would highly advise players not to sell their cards there cause it seems like if they can take advantage of the situation they will and your cards that your selling will be highly under valued so they can increase their profits. I will shop and play somewhere else it is hard to trust a store when they pull this kind of stuff. It just is very unprofessional and inconsiderate...
Read morePositive, fun, helpful, knowledgeable, welcoming and great events (including for teens & kids).
My daughter (10) and I (43) had never been, but were looking for something to do as a first "emerge from the pandemic a bit" thing. We discovered that they had a weekly Pokémon card event, and decided to try it out (neither of us ever having done something like that before.) 8 months later, and we've been coming to the store most weeks for the better part of a year to play. The staff have been entirely welcoming, took her seriously as a player and collector, and helped both of us learn about the game.
Even though most of the customers are knowledgeable adults, they have managed to create an environment where, kids (and newbie adults!) are entirely welcome, and not made to feel silly or out of place.
I can completely recommend dropping in to be introduced to a new hobby, attending one/some of their events, or just buying stuff from them as an awesome local business and positive member of...
