Went here on a friday night around 1730 place was quite busy. We started off with waters, the water glasses should be bigger as you can drain the glass very quickly! The atmosphere is very nice and lively! Food arrived very quickly to the point my girlfriend and I were surprised how quickly it arrived especially with the amount of people!
The Food - We were contimplating getting the "potato skins" they were one of the priciest ones I've seen around at $14.00 so we decided against it.. and I'm so glad we did as we noticed someone else order them! Restaurants lets get this straight! Potato skins are not two potatoes cut in half those are potato boats, potato skins are the skins of potatoes piled high and loaded up, what they offer here are potato boats and for the price it didnt seem worth it to me..
Bacon cheeseburger. Burger is an 8 ounce patty which is nice as most burgers are around 6oz. At first glance the bun seemed like a perfect match for this big burger (as you need a bun that will support the burger). However within the first couple of bites the bun fell apart, and it wasnt due to the juices of the burger as the bun handled the juices well! It was the dryness of the bun which basically crumbled apart.
The actual burger was mediocre, the bite into the burger was a bit deflating as it didnt taste like a much mostly dry bun and what seemed to be unseasoned beef! The quality of meat didn't seem to be extremely high which would make sense as they sell them for $6.50 on a special night every week. (Maybe get a higher quality of meat and sell a 6oz party) I wouldnt go back for the burger, but I would definitely try something else and give it another shot as the staff were friendly, prompt, and the place had a...
Read moreSo let me say I really want to like this restaurant. Great spot, good vibe and very convenient for eats/drinks prior to an event at Scotiabank Center. We went before a concert, were advised of a long wait which ended up being less than 10 minutes - Bonus! The food was below par with many comparable restos. Seafood chowder for $19.50 for a small bowl (Probably 1.5 cups) was poor in general. Our daughter left over half of it there and was hungry and loves seafood chowder. Calamari was tough and rubbery - the dip with it was good. The Club and Chicken sandwich were nothing special, served with small portions of fries. We asked the server about the chicken fingers and the fish and chips before ordering as options and she indicated they were hit and miss and often had complaints about them. I appreciate her honesty. The staff was hustling, the menu has good variety. For a meal with a pop, 2 beer and a calamari appie $145 with tip is a bit out of hand when I consider the quality. I could have went to the Keg for $50 more and had an outstanding experience. I think they may be leveraging their location a bit too much. The place has potential but it needs some TLC on the food quality/value side of things. I might give it another chance in a few months to see if anything has changed. I realize restaurants are are still trying to recover from pandemic challenges - hopefully it's on...
Read moreWas here for supper before a show at the Metro Centre, had a reseveration made and our party arrived well before many of the other reservations but we still got the least ideal table in the place. Right next to the kitchen, I had servers bumping into my chair the whole time. I was pretty sure someone was going to drop something on me. Luckily they didn't.
The food was fine, nothing special. The beer selection was mediocre. The service was non existent after our food. We placed an order for two pitchers and then didn't see our server for 25 minutes. One of us had to go find her, she was seemingly avoiding our side of the restaurant. She claimed to be pouring the pitchers, we said no, give us the bill. We went down to 2 Crows, where the service was much more prompt and friendly, and better/cheaper beer!
I know it was a busy night, but there were a lot of people working, and it should've been anticipated. Servers need sections, not tables spread all over the restaurant. It's unlikely I'll...
