I'll just mention first thing that I work here, and a customer told us they loved us so much, and we should be on yelp and Google maps etc., so this is for you, man with the most stunning eyes ever and epic beard :)
THE CONCEPT is a self-serve frozen yogurt shop, grab a bowl and put as much as you want, mix flavors, and load it up with sprinkles, nuts, fruit, candy, etc. a drizzle of syrup and maybe a cherry on top. Customized by you, for you , you’re the chef :). Alternatively, you can be a "purist" who just loves the pure and simple taste of frozen yogurt. The kids go nuts with the candy ;) We also sell coffee, both espresso based and filtered, pastries from a local bakery, and will soon have sandwiches and tasty breakfast food (top-secret ;) ) We’ve got your standard drinks too, water, sodas, Perrier, vitamin water etc. and make smoothies from the froyo.
THE FROZEN YOGURT: We sell amazing frozen yogurt, made fresh in the store with real (take a guess ) yogurt, milk and a high-quality Italian gelato products. Customers have told me they can taste the difference, that it's less acidic or just right, not too sweet. My favorite flavors are lime (tart and refreshing), cappuccino, coconut (tastes like pina-colada), caramel (tastes exactly like the square caramels you get at Halloween) and mango (fruity yet mellow) but they're all delicious. We swap a few flavors every so often for variety. We also have two sorbets which are lactose free. Froyo and sorbet is gluten free and most of the frozen yogurt is low-fat (depends if we use whole or skim milk). I can and do eat a lot of this all the time and unlike ice-cream, I don’t feel sick or bloated after. The prices are awesome too; it’s currently 57cents/ounce.
SAVE: We have free WiFi and give 10% discounts to students and regular customers :) (and we'll usually find a reason to give you 10% off if we can, student regular, like us on Facebook, promotions often)
DESIGN/STORE: The store is awesome, it looks like a 50's type diner and has a great vibe, we're always playing oldies music (Beatles, Elvis, mo-town stuff too like the who, the temptations, all the great music) and the large flat-screen has old movies (boss loves Hitchcock, I like the old Dracula/Frankenstein stuff and we'll put on Tom and Jerry for the kids)
THE SERVICE: Well, I work here so maybe I’m tooting my own horn, but from the flip perspective, I like getting to know the customers :) I’m studying photography so if someone comments on the camera stuff around the store (guy came in with a tattoo of a roliflex camera and we have an open plastic rolliflex camera to put the spoons in) so we’d talk photography) or seeing the same people and being like hey how’s it going? I love your tattoos, your necklace, your bag, your shoes etc. As far as fast, most people only get frozen yogurt (we only recently added the pastries) so that goes by fast and the coffees are probably less than Starbucks or close to timmies wait times. We’re nice, all my co-workers are angels and the bosses are fun and we all love to smile and laugh. As part of the staff, I love the clientele and hopefully it shows.
DANCE! We sometimes get dancers from Jive studio, they like to swing dance in the middle “lane” of the wood floors, we’re thinking about making a weekly event :) feel free to dance whenever you want, whether it’s a shimmy to the toppings bar or full out twirling around with your daughter or partner :)
So that’s a whole wack-tonne of information about us at Blueboy. Hopefully you found it helpful, but it’s always better from a first person experience, so come on by. I look forward to serving you :)
(p.s. if you want to be like hey, I read your think on Google, I’m the girl with the bangs and her hair always in...
Read moreHoly crêpes, Montreal! I just had an experience at Le BlueBoy on Mount Royal Street that has permanently etched itself into the annals of my dessert-loving soul. And when I say "etched," I mean like a diamond-tipped ice cream scoop carving pure joy into the very fabric of my being.
I walked in, a mere mortal with a craving, and I left... well, I practically floated out on a cloud of strawberry-scented ecstasy, propelled by the sheer force of deliciousness. My weapon of choice? The Strawberry Shortcake Sundae. Oh, the Strawberry Shortcake Sundae! It wasn't just a sundae; it was a symphony, a ballet, a full-blown Cirque du Soleil show for my taste buds.
First, the ice cream. Le BlueBoy, you magnificent artisanal wizards, what sorcery is this? It was so creamy, so perfectly sweet, it felt like tiny, happy unicorns were tap-dancing on my tongue. And the strawberry shortcake bits? Not just an afterthought, my friends. These were plump, juicy, scarlet jewels of perfection, nestled amongst pillowy clouds of what I can only assume was whipped cream spun by angels.
Each spoonful was a revelation. A delightful dance between the cool, refreshing ice cream and the burst of fresh strawberry, all harmonized by the subtle, comforting embrace of the shortcake. I might have shed a single, perfect tear of pure, unadulterated happiness. Or maybe it was just a little whipped cream on my eyelash. Either way, it was glorious.
The staff? They were practically radiating good vibes, like they knew they were serving up pure happiness in a cup. I half expected them to break into a synchronized soft-serve dance number. (Which, by the way, I would have absolutely paid extra to see.)
So, if you're wandering down Mount Royal Street and your inner dessert-fiend starts to rumble, do yourself a monumental favor. Don't walk, skip to Le BlueBoy. Get the Strawberry Shortcake Sundae. And prepare to have your life irrevocably improved, one glorious, hilarious, and utterly delicious spoonful at a time. I'm already planning my next visit, and I might just bring a change of clothes because I anticipate another spontaneous eruption of pure joy. Bravo, Le...
Read moreWe visited Le Blueboy after hearing a lot of positive things about it. It was a weekend night, and as expected, the place was busy. Even so, we waited more than 10 minutes before a lady came to serve us. I have to say, the menu was pretty overwhelming, there were so many options, but without any pictures to help guide us, it became quite confusing. I found myself unsure of what to order, so I asked the employee for suggestions. The only thing I was sure about was the beignes since I saw a picture and ordered them right away. We also decided to try the Oreo milkshake, Les Tailles churros sundae with solo flavor (we swapped caramel salé for choco caramel), and the Fresa shortcake.
The Halloween themed decorations added a nice touch to the atmosphere, and the service was friendly. But let’s talk about the taste. Overall, I found the prices fair compared to similar places I’ve visited. I absolutely fell in love with the Orleans style beignes. they were soft, freshly made right in front of us, and just delicious. The milkshake was also really enjoyable, rich with Oreo flavor. However, the churros sundae was a bit of a letdown, good, but not particularly special. The churros themselves were on par with what you’d get at many other places, and the sundae didn’t stand out for me. The Fresa shortcake was decent, but again, I wasn’t too impressed by it.
In hindsight, I wish I had gone for the sorbet Tiger’s Blood, it seemed like a more unique option that might have given me a different experience. Despite this, overall, it was a good visit, and I’d definitely come back specifically for the beignes, which were the highlight of the night. I just hope they revamp their menu style so that it’s easier to navigate, making it quicker for people to figure out what they want without...
