â 1 Star â Shockingly Rude and Arrogant Behaviour from Walmart Staff
I usually donât write reviews, but what I experienced last night was so disrespectful and unnecessary that I had to speak up. The arrogance and attitude from one Walmart employee was beyond anything Iâve ever seen in retail.
I checked the hours before heading there as I needed few things to pickup for thanksgiving â it clearly said open until 11:00 PM. I arrived at 9:55 PM on 12 October 2025, thinking to grab a few quick items, and was told politely by the greeter that they close the doors at 10:00 PM, which was totally fine thinking they are not taking anymore customers and trying to wrap up early for thanksgiving
Then, at 10:00 PM sharp, an announcement came on saying the store was closed for the night â a full hour earlier than listed. I thought maybe it was an early close for thanksgiving, so I picked up a pack of chicken nearby and walked toward the checkout, ready to pay and leave.
Thatâs when things went completely wrong.
At the self-checkout area, a woman (short, fair, appeared to be of North-Indian background) was blocking the entrance, telling everyone rudely, âWeâre closed, come back tomorrow.â You shouldâve been here since they announced it and customers waiting at the self checkout needs to leave and not allowed to pay. No kindness, no patience â just attitude. She was rolling her eyes, raising her voice, and treating customers like they were a bother rather than the reason the store exists.
There were maybe three or four of us left, each with just a few items. She easily could have let us self-checkout â it would have taken five minutes total. Instead, she stood there like her father owned the place, waving people away and talking down to everyone.
What made it unbearable to watch was an elderly woman in a wheelchair who had just one small item â something like a paperclip. She politely asked if she could please check out since it was only one thing. This employee coldly told her to leave and come back tomorrow. I was stunned. No empathy, no respect for a senior or a person with mobility issues ,just complete disregard for basic decency. I am not bothered about her not letting me pay but a person with mobility issues and have only one item
Iâve worked as a manager in retail before, and if one of my staff ever treated a customer â especially an elderly or disabled one â like that, theyâd face immediate consequences. Customer service is not optional; itâs the job.
The worst part? After turning people away, theyâd have to spend more time putting all those items back than it wouldâve taken to let us check out. It wasnât about policy â it was pure attitude and lack of care.
When I returned to Walmart the next morning, I saw the same elderly lady shopping again. That moment made me furious all over again. She had to make another trip for something that could have been done in 30 seconds.
What happened that night was not just bad service â it was heartless. This employee humiliated paying customers and especially disrespected someone who clearly needed assistance. It showed a total lack of empathy, training, and professionalism.
Iâm calling on Walmart management to review the CCTV footage between 9:50 PM and 10:10 PM near the self-checkout area. Youâll see exactly how your employee treated people. This wasnât enforcing rules â this was power-tripping and arrogance.
I want to formally file a complaint and know what action is being taken. Walmart needs to hold employees accountable and make sure this kind of behaviour never happens again. Customers donât deserve to be spoken to like that, and seniors definitely donât deserve to be turned away for trying to buy one small item.
Walmart â please do better. Train your staff, teach empathy, and remind your employees that customers are not the enemy. What I saw last night was shameful, and no one should ever...
Read moreIf I could give a -5 star rating I would. Worst customer service and care. Several months ago I was searching for maternity wear but due to COVID many stores weren't carrying stock in stores and all change rooms were closed. I had decided to purchase a pair of jeans from Niagara Falls Walmart and tried them on upon returning home to find out the inside of the pants were completely covered in someone else's bodily fluids that had now transfered to my skin, I was absolutely mortified and brought them back immediately to inform them of this traumatic event that had just occurred. I had requested to see a manager but was informed there wasn't one in only an assistant manager who could inform her (the actual store manager ) of the event that had occurred and provide her with my contact information for her to reach out to me during her shift the following day, well about a month had gone by with no phone call but I was making sure to call and follow up with them EVERY SINGLE DAY but somehow she never seemed to be in no matter what time I called or was always too busy to speak with me regarding the incident. I had missed work due to the extra testing that had to take place from this incident, It was an extremely stressful situation to be placed in and they had zero sympathy, clearly, regarding the situation. I had finally received a phone call, without even an apology, not even for the wait, they then continued to offer me a pathetic $10 gift card for it to be swept under the rug, I absolutely refused, what a slap in the face this felt like. I had demanded to be placed through the escalations department, they placed me in their insurance department and I had begun my formal claim, which they jaw droppingly denied, I am so disgusted with this multimillion dollar company. I just never wanted this to ever happen to anyone else ever again. I did end up going into preterm labor and having our daughter early where we spent time in the NICU until she was ready to come home, luckily her and I were tested clean of whatever we had come in contact with inside of those pants. Then for another, I had visited Fort Erie location for a playard mattress but they were unfortunetly out of stock, I had then decided to call the niagara location as it said they had them in stock but they didn't answer, 35 minutes and still no answer. Fort Erie offered to call them to, they reached someone immediately but was placed on hold for 25 minutes and nobody had returned to the phone call. I continued to call and finally someone had answered, they realized I was calling for the same thing as the Fort Erie Walmart was requesting about and had also placed me on hold and never answered. I proceeded to keep calling, I was finally answered but immediately placed on hold without even a voice answering (clearly annoyed and knowing it was still me calling) someone actually picked up moments later and had searched the floor for the item in request. Over an hour of phone calls to save a potential "we state its in stock but don't have it". Needs extreme improvement at this location, especially...
Read more2.5 stars I'd say instead of 2. I love walmart, and I love that I can find nearly anything at decent prices. At this particular location, I have come across some procedures here to be very non customer service based. One time it was 9:59 and I had to grab dog food and had a full cart of groceries as I'm a mother to a 6ft abyss that absorbs all food around him and was told by a floor supervisor that I wouldn't be allowed to check out because they were closing. So if you shop around and have a full cart of items, make sure you get to the checkout in time, or you'll bump into some attitude. To correct this, I simply went under the "blockade" and went to check out and there was no problem with any of the cashiers and they were friendly and didnt give any indication about me not being a le to check out. Today, I was at the phone center at 8:56 and was told I couldn't get a Sim card because they close at 9. I started walking away, kind of pissed because the attitude I received from the guy about businesses being closed, and the whole aura around him was stuck up and rude and the other staff around him were looking at me like i was an insect that needed to get out of their hair, so as I walked away I checked the time and it was 8:59 so when I had asked about 3 minutes before that, they were in fact open and as per their own admission, after 9 no one can get anything from the phone Department. So I stated, speaking loudly and yes annoyed as ANYONE would be about how when I asked it was 8:57 and they had been open, he looked at the clock and said thatbit was now 9, so i said yes but it wasnt 3 minutes ago when i asked so id like to get this sim card done and I got so much attitude back and the lady (which was the SAME supervisor that had said I couldn't check out at the first instance) was saying that I don't need to have attitude and is she being rude to me, asking multiple times, which yes , she absolutely was and after the entire encounter, I had every right to have an attitude so I said yes you are, but Id like to just get this done please. And they complied. The lady that helped me after that was efficient and kind and helped to move my purchase along, and I honestly feel badly that she had to stay a few minutes after shift when she hadn't been involved in the issue to begin with. The others walked off after cashing out, and I'm sure had much to say.
This is terrible customer service. If you don't have Ă„ nice demeanor and a push to help people, don't work in customer service. I can only imagine the number of customers that have walked out of there feeling the same as me today.
The cashier was very friendly, but the floor staff look around at customers like there's something wrong with them and it's created an environment of not feeling welcome, and I don't think that's what the walmart brand is supposed to bring. I'd like to see a Secret Shopper go in there and give the review some of these...
