My boyfriend and I visited Avlis in Chatham to start looking at engagement rings, and we had the absolute pleasure of working with Raffi. He was incredibly patient and knowledgeable, which made the entire experience so comfortable—especially since it was our first time ring shopping together.

Raffi took the time to walk us through different styles and cuts, explaining everything along the way. He even offered to create a couple of wax molds so I could try them on and get a better sense of how the designs would look and feel. A few days later, we came back to see not only the molds but also 3D images of custom designs he had put together for us. It was such a thoughtful and creative touch.

The service, patience, and attention to detail at Avlis were beyond anything we expected. My now fiancé ended up choosing one of the custom designs Raffi created—and I absolutely love it.

Growing up my dad wore a horseshoe ring, not sure of the significance of the ring. My parents divorced and I know my mom left her rings behind. So my dad had this ring made with a few diamonds from her ring and two small rubies which were her birthstone. I never remember him not wearing this ring so when he passed away 20 years ago I wore the ring for some time. It really wasn't my style and so it got put in a box and stayed there until a few months ago. Because this ring reminded me so much of my dad and had diamonds and rubies relating to my mom I decided to have something created that I could wear. I went to Avlis and met Raj and his wife Silva. We discussed the ring and Silva used her experience and creativity and designed me a beautiful piece that I will wear and cherish everyday. Incredible service. The owner is a gem- so helpful, patient and kind. And oh so in the know. Her ideas for showing shoppers the endless possibilities is next to none. Innovation at its finest. Gorgeous diamonds, lots of stones and a man made ruby I know I will love. The owner helped me rework my engagement ring ideas, whilst her lovely husband and co-worker kept my finance to be entertained… a very important job.

I wanted to leave with everything. It’s all amazing. Please go check them out and have a wonderful time engaging with them. Find the piece you love. If it isn’t there, then move on but this was my first and last stop.

I can’t wait to get this ring on my finger. This is simply a diamond coloured in with a sharpie but you get the idea. The red 1 is for me, but maybe with a sapphire or a pale blue stone. We will see. I trust Avlis’ judgement...
