I had an extremely disappointing experience at Iqbal Foods Thorncliffe. The customer service, especially in the meat section, is the worst I’ve encountered. Most staff lack basic manners and don’t know how to communicate or behave professionally with customers. It felt like they were doing me a favour or handing out charity rather than providing a service for paying customers.
Despite taking a number for the meat counter, I had to wait for over two hours because the staff prioritized their friends, ignoring the line and those waiting patiently. It was chaotic and disrespectful to customers who had been waiting. Even with a number, no one seemed to care.
The only positive aspect was an employee named Taufiq, who stood out for being helpful and polite in the meat section. However, this one individual couldn’t make up for the terrible experience the rest of the team created.
When I raised my concerns with management, they seemed uninterested and unwilling to take any action to resolve the issues. They don’t value customer feedback or care about improving the shopping experience.
Adding to the frustration, I noticed significant price discrepancies between what was advertised on the shelves and what I was charged at the cashier. Always check your receipt carefully if you shop here!
In comparison, their other location at Fairview offers much better customer service and a far superior overall experience. I would not recommend the Thorncliffe location to anyone. Avoid this store entirely if you value your time, money, and dignity as a customer. ………………………………………………………………………

Instead of taking accountability, you’re making excuses about the grand opening crowd and your “new queue system.” The problem was not just the system but your staff's unprofessional and disrespectful behaviour, which no queue system can fix without proper training and accountability.
Blaming the crowd is dismissive of my experience and others who faced the same mistreatment. If your team lacks basic customer service skills and cannot uphold fairness or professionalism, that’s on management, not the customers. Read moreThe most stinky attitude from staff. I placed an order for pick up at 4 Pm. The email received says the staff will call to discuss any missing items for substitutes and an email would be sent when the order is in process. Usman calls me to let me know one item was not available at 4:50 PM and says I should pick up by 5:30 PM. I never received any email and the call I received from e-commerce department from Usman asking for replacement at 4:50 PM when asked how do you expect me to arrive in 40 minutes Usman argued the pick up time was at 4 PM and I should have already been there for pick. He further says that he is helping customers rather than doing the job he is supposedly getting paid for curb side pick up order.
Iqbal food owners advise your staff they are not helping customers as they are getting paid for doing their job and Iqbal Halal Food you are not doing any charity by providing curb side pick up for customers. Also you are not doing any service / charity by having a store you have opened up a store to make profit you are not open to offer any of your service for free it’s a part of business to provide customer service which each and every of your staff lacks.
Another thing mentioned by the staff is that they are busy and are hence cannot even follow their own instructions and processes. As if it’s our fault that you are busy and under staffed and don’t know how to talk to customers or treat them.
Iqbal halal food managers are never available to talk to customers when called they are always in meeting ( Abrar and Ali Bhai) Oh also there are so many managers that the staff doesn’t understand why the customer asking for store manager they go on to say we have many managers produce manager, purchase manager and all kind of department managers but cannot have customer reach store manager or have them call back. When questions are asked who is on the other end the staff has issue to say they’re and find it offensive to respond saying too many questions are being asked.
