Have been patronizing this deli for the last 10 years and after my recent experience this past week I will never return.
I recently purchased kefir in a large glass jar and was charged $1 as a deposit upon return of the jar.
I rinsed the jar out with soap and water and considered it clean enough to return and so set out on foot to do just that prior to purchasing more items.
Upon entry and meeting with one of the ladies behind the counter I was told that they were refusing accepting the jar and the return of my $1 deposit as the jar was in her opinion filthy.
When I explained how it was washed out and only had a slight film on the inside, the lady scoffed at me and told me that it was dirty and that ânormal peopleâ clean their jars more thoroughly.
I was shocked at this tone and the continued refusal to provide my deposit back. I asked if I needed to scrub the jar in order to get my deposit and was told yes.
So I left, scrubbed the jar and returned for my deposit. The lady in question was not available when I returned so I explained to the other attendants what had transpired and they started making excuses for her and basically agreed.
What should have happened is as follows: âSir, let me get you your deposit for you. If you donât mind me mentioning, it would be easier for the staff here if you could return future jars as followsâ.
Instead the staff doubled down and explained that ânormal peopleâ scrub their jars more.
Just wanted to let the ownership know that this type of customer service is terrible and unacceptable. I donât work for your staff and they should have given me my deposit back even if I brought the jar back half full.
The net result of this interaction is that I will never set foot or transact business with your establishment ever again.
I spend approximately $40 per week in your deli and this will now be $0 going forward. I hope it was worth it to your employeeâs ego, all over a $1 deposit.
Pathetic and embarrassing behaviour by that woman and her...
Read moreA Delicacy for a damn good price! My family has been buying Smoked Turkeys from Kingsway meats for the last 6 years, weâre moving out in the new year and decided to take a look at the price we have been paying for the Turkeys before tossing them. I have been sticking the price labels to a cupboard door for later reference since we first started buying in 2019, honestly, it turned into more of a tradition than actual price monitoring as compared to some greedflation you will see from grocers it was clear the increase in price for the turkeys was just matching the increased cost of supplies&labour.
from 2019-20 the price was 8.80$/kg, in 2021 was 12.10$, 2022+ its costs 13.21$/kg.
The closest product in quality to it would be a Butterball turkey and even then it's lacking, you don't get that light flavour from the smoke, nice crispy skin, and juicy meat. you can get close with a Butterball but you still have to do a ton of work to get it prepped& served and worry about messing it up somehow. With a smoked turkey you just need to have enough time to warm it up and then break it down to serve it quality is pretty much guaranteed, and with the time youâd have spent on the butterball, you can make a ton of other dishes letting you eat well right into the new year.
It is clear to me that wherever I end up in the following years I'm going to have to make the trek to pick one of these up for Christmas...
