Got the Yama Bento set, so I'll go ahead and rate each thing in it. Beef Teriyaki: probably the most disappointing, tasted pretty dry and sauce not very flavourful. Bean sprouts below were kinda soggy and didn't taste fresh. 5.8/10 Shrimp and vegetable tempura: REALLY good, cooked perfectly, and tasted amazing paired with the dipping sauce: 9/10 Gyoza: pretty good. 8/10 Tofu: fine. 5/10 Salad: nice and crunchy with a good mix of veggies and a good sauce. 8/10 Sushi: good, but would have appreciated more than 1 piece. 7/10 Overall, price wasn't too bad and I had an enjoyable meal

Definitely the best sushi we had in Toronto! We've been coming back to this place since 2 years ago, when we first discovered it and each time it doesn't disappoint. Quality of food, presentation, service and atmosphere are top and prices are reasonable. Guaranteed, you don't want to miss this experience! Editing after 2 years, after Covid and all, and still remains the same great sushi place! Highly recommmend for consistency in quality. Well done Yumi!!❤

First time coming here for dinner. Delicious sushi, took me by surprise! We had spicy salmon, spicy tuna, spicy scallop and the volcano roll. All was delicious! I particularly enjoyed the good proportion of rice to fish, the rolls were not filled with majority rice. Edamame was delicious, though a small suggestion is to keep salt on the side for anyone who is on low salt diet.

"Tasteless"? "Ruined"? I don't know what these other reviewers are smoking, but seriously?

I generally eat Japanese food at West Coast restaurants with traditionally-trained chefs and often fish that's been flown in weekly from Japan. So I have a better than average sense of whether a restaurant is edible.

Is the fish fresh? Yep. Are the sashimi, ngiri, hand rolls, etc, well-prepared? Yep. Is the menu broad and well-managed? Yep. Is it family friendly as well as adult friendly? Yep. Is the staff polite, friendly and as helpful as possible, barring language barriers? Yep.

Is this a stellar restaurant? Nope. Is the customer service spectacular? Nope.

Tasteless? Only if you're accustomed to pouring wasabi over everything. The seasoning is more delicate than that, lets actual flavours come through.

Would I choose to go there if I had access to a good West Coast resto? Nah. But for Toronto, it's well...

The atmosphere is nice, food was good. However I had a few issues:

  1. There are no 1 person bento boxes on the menu. I had to order individual pieces: 6pc Salmon maki, 6pc cucumber maki, vege tempura, unwanted extra soup = $18.50

  2. The waitress gave me an extra soup when I was asking if the soup she had already given me was extra. I let it go as mild confusion.

  3. I received salmon -skin- maki. When I asked what I should of asked for if I wanted the pink salmon meat sushi she told me I should of said "sake" maki which literally translates into "salmon" maki so I don't understand since this is what I ordered. I was starting to get disgruntled.

  4. The waitress never came by to refill my tea. Really??

I gave a $1 tip to show that I was a tipping customer but that my tip would reflect my satisfication. I hope it came off as insulting. I wish she would of asked why. Will not...

I worked there as a server until December. While I worked there, their attitude was so rude. She yelled at us, sighed with frustration and told us that we have many plobrems which was why I couldn't keep working there anymore. And then, I got my last paycheck and checked it after going back home. I found out she forgot to pay me for 1day of work. So I texted her to make sure it was correct or not. She called me and got mad at me even though she didn't check. I can't speak English well (I'm japanese) so I passed the phone to my bf who is Korean (She's also korean) . She didn't even try to admit that it was her mistake and hung up many times. Eventually, she admitted to her mistake. But she said I have to apologize to her cause I asked her about tips. I really don't want someone to get this kind of experience. That's why I posted my...
