Save for the four years or so over which I'd ceased residing in West Toronto, I have made routine appearances at this fast food outlet ever since securing my first job at 16-years of age, with my parents before then, etc.
All staff members-family members exhibit a warm and friendly demeanor, having greeted me as well as my parents, in the past, immediately upon entering the premises.
I've never felt ignored nor neglected and, have evidenced that, even amid their peak times, they work efficiently, cohesively and effectively as to keep their line-ups moving. They are all very generous and kind.
Over the years through to the level of inflation we're seeing at present, their prices have remained incredibly reasonable, especially when one considers just how generous they are with the volume of meat, in addition to vegetables, they incorporate into, per say, their shawarmas, the cost of operating a business on this segment of Bloor St. W., etc.
The vast majority of the time, I opt for shawarmas, which I'd strongly recommend to anyone. I'd also advise any party new to this business to sample each and every type of sauce they have on-hand, with whatever food items they elect to purchase. Inherent in their selection is some type of match applicable to all customers.
I've never found any varieties of their meats to be particularly oily, either. Similarly, I've never found any of their sauces to be very greasy, whereas the same cannot be said about those affiliated with most other Middle-Eastern fast food outlets and restaurants I've frequented.
Now-and-then, when they've made minute mistakes, such as adding the wrong sauces to my orders, etc., they've all of apologized profusely, insisted I retain the improperly prepared items while preparing new ones for me.
I'd encourage anyone to dine-in here as much as I would to get their meals to go. The outlet's interior looks largely unchanged since I'd commenced coming here with my parents in the early 1990s but, it's clean nevertheless and subsequently retains so much of its original character.
I will remain loyal to this business for as long as they exist and, can declare that, amid their vast array of food options, there will always be something to satisfy all customers' tastes, personal preferences, ...
Read moreThis place is an absolute neighborhood treasure! If you’re craving fresh, flavorful, and affordable Middle Eastern food, Falafel World on Bloor is hands-down one of the best spots you can go to in the west end. I’ve been here multiple times, and every visit has been consistent, delicious, and satisfying.
The falafel is always crispy on the outside, soft and herby on the inside, and you can tell it’s made fresh. Whether you go for the falafel sandwich or the plate, the portions are generous and full of vibrant flavor. Their tahini and hot sauce are the perfect combo, and the pita bread is fresh and warm.
Their shawarma and kebabs are also worth trying—juicy, well-seasoned, and not overly greasy like some other places. The salads and sides (especially the tabbouleh and pickled turnips) are always fresh and bright, adding a nice balance to the heavier dishes.
But the real surprise? They have lazy cake! It’s that classic chocolatey, crunchy biscuit dessert that’s hard to find outside of homemade versions. It’s kept in the fridge near the counter, so make sure to ask for it—they don’t always advertise it, but it’s the perfect sweet bite to finish off your meal.
The service is friendly and fast, and the space, though small, is clean and welcoming. It’s more of a takeout spot, but there are a few seats if you want to eat in. Everyone working there seems genuinely kind and proud of their food, which makes the experience that much better.
Prices are super fair, especially for the quality and freshness you get. It’s one of those places where you feel like you’re getting more than what you pay for—real food, made with care.
Highly recommend Falafel World for anyone in Bloor West Village or passing through the area. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick bite, a hearty lunch, or even just a slice of lazy cake with tea—this spot...
