To the Administration of Niagara College Canada School of Management,
I write this letter as a long-standing resident of Toronto's Annex neighborhood, residing just across the street from your institution. I feel compelled to address the deeply troubling concerns stemming from the behavior of certain students at Niagara College Canada School of Management. My experiences alongside this institution have been nothing short of haunting, necessitating a candid conversation about critical areas that demand immediate rectification.
Foremost among these concerns is the glaring lack of diversity within the student body. As an individual of African descent, I find it deeply troubling to witness a conspicuous absence of racial diversity among the student community. Diversity is an essential element of a comprehensive educational experience, and its absence raises significant concerns. My concern is rooted in my identity as a Black individual, and I firmly believe that if any institution were to have a predominantly White student body, it would be a matter of grave concern. Unfortunately, I have observed students primarily of South Asian origin, which presents a concerning issue I'd like to refer to as "Brown on Black" crime.
Another pressing issue is the safety of the neighborhood since the institution's establishment. I have had to contact law enforcement on multiple occasions due to distressing incidents involving students, including stalking and reckless behavior, notably related to the operation of motorcycles and bicycles. The institution must take proactive steps to address these concerns and establish collaborations with the local community to ensure residents' safety. It is disheartening to note that the crime rate in the neighborhood has surged since the institution's arrival, leading to numerous law enforcement interventions.
Additionally, I wish to highlight a troubling incident when I attempted to discuss my grievances with the school but faced significant difficulties gaining access to the premises. Effective and transparent communication with security personnel should be a priority to prevent such unwarranted situations. I felt unjustly targeted as the institution's security personnel denied me entry and extended their authority to prevent me from standing on a public sidewalk adjacent to the institution.
Lastly, I must emphasize the profound toll this environment has taken on my mental health. The challenges I have endured in the vicinity of this institution have significantly impacted my overall well-being. The persistent harassment and negative interactions with students on campus have led to persistent thoughts of suicide and suicide attempts.
I earnestly implore you to approach these concerns with utmost seriousness and take immediate steps to address them. I hope that these transformative changes will contribute to the creation of a safer, more inclusive, and supportive environment for the entire community. I humbly request an end to the harassment and targeting that I have...
Read moreEasily the worst educational experience I've ever had. A diploma mill that only exists to provide international students with a PGWP, and with absolutely no standards.
Their claims of a diverse student body is false, unless by diverse they mean "no white people". In my first term, 90% of students were from India. Worse yet, many do not speak English at an academic level, and a few don't speak English at all, making me wonder how they got in.
Both teachers and students know that the students are only there for PR and PGWP, so they don't care about the education. Many students openly cheat, exchanging answers in group messages, using AI, and even talking DURING exams. Teachers either don't want to ruin their lives, or the school pressures them to be lenient. I know one teacher who gave students zero for AI use, only to be forced to give them another chance despite the official "zero tolerance" policy towards cheating.
Their student ambassadors are only there for a certificate, not because they care. I've had someone kicked out of the learning commons because the ambassadors wanted to have a pizza party, despite this student attending an online class at the time. If you're not from India or Nigeria, chances are that they will ignore you. I attended one event, and I was basically left on my own as the ambassadors hung out with their regular friends they invited along.
The "education" is bad too. Some teachers are qualified and clearly care, but some don't even teach what's on the syllabus. I wonder if it's because they expect the students to cheat anyway, so they don't care what they teach. This makes it difficult for people who want to take professional exams like the CHRP, because they were not taught the correct material.
Their PR team is so obnoxious. They offer students gift cards in exchange for online reviews, even if the student has only been there for one week. They make students wait outside the job fair hall because they wanted footage of students flooding into the room. They jump in to interrupt employers for PR interviews even when the employers were talking to students.
The worst part: not only does having a Niagara college diploma or certificate not help with the job search, NCT's reputation is so bad that it negatively impacts your resume. It's become a well-known diploma mill that preys on international students, and even those with honest intentions to study have to suffer for the school's lack of standards.
Niagara College Toronto clearly caters to international students who want an easy 1-2 year PGWP course. If you're serious about self improvement or education,...
Read moreI had a different experience in this school. In Mirvish Campus, they have a very nice facility and professors are good. I also met nice student ambassadors from College Street Campus. However, some student ambassadors in Mirvish are quite the opposite. One encounter last semester was an over promising statement thru an email that I was questioned by Divjot (a student ambassador) if I was even capable to pursue another program next Spring (2024) over a phone call just because I was asking already for the waived application fee since I am an old student which she actually promised in the first place. The solution they gave was the international recruiter contacted me about this but thanks to my agency- WISE who helped me solve this.
The very fresh encounter was this semester, I was lining up yesterday for the items given to students at the second floor of the building. I was standing with the rest of other students when suddenly a girl cut the line saying that she just went to the toilet; other than my classmates in front of me I did not see that person claiming that she was in line. She stood up in front of me but I did not mind it yet at the time but the student ambassador - Lincy saw her and pulled her off the line and said that she saw her so she is okay for her to cut the line and be ahead of everyone else. She asked the student in front of me if she could take the spot but said no and i informed her how unfair it is for me and to everyone who lined up ahead for how many minutes already! So instead of fixing the situation and explain things politely, she made a scene— walk towards me aggressively and made me feel so uncomfortable about this situation that I felt so discriminated and she offended me in public. She was stopped by a coordinator but I said that she was so rude and I just got an answer of “didnt she explain to you already” I did not answer back because it’s going to be pointless. It made me decipher that maybe because I am a Filipino and we are the minority group in this school. This is just my personal experience and I hope I am making sense to every person who wants to be treated fairly in a foreign country away from home. The decision is...
